Hair, Goat Coffee, Mighty Ducks and Some Cartoons

I feel bad for coach Bombay, watching this episode of the Mighty Ducks was hard. I am not going to say anything else because the episode just hit today and I don’t want to give any spoilers. I will say there was a point I got a little verklempt, then I got myself together and carried on, in true Duck fashion.

I had my hair done this week, I love going to get my hair done, the whole process. The washing, the color, the cut, the styling, the good conversation. The whole thing, anyone else love it? It is three hours not wasted, it is three hours looking after me. God gave me hair, let’s face it, fantastic hair, it has always been my best feature, and I take care of it.

Thankfully I have not lost my hair due to menopause, I know that is a thing and due to the collagen and other supplements, I am blessed.

This week started off rough, then, on my Friday, God showed off. Every single one of my customers were nice, and appreciative of my help and followed my instructions. It was so amazing! I don’t even know what to say, after my day was over I said a prayer and thanked God for my amazing day.

Do you ever have a day like that? Where you see God’s hand in it, everything falls into place and it is just perfect. I am not saying every day I have is horrible, it isn’t, it is just some days make you see the hand of God.

I believe we have to have some challenges in order to appreciate the good in our life. If life were perfect all of the time would we recognize true greatness?

I don’t know who needs to hear this, but We the People is not the government. Here in America we have a Constitution for a reason, our Founding Fathers gave us the 2nd Amendment for just the situation that is happening now. We the People will stand our ground, always, especially here in Texas.

On a different note there is a new show on Amazon Prime called Invincible. It is really good, thank you to my friend Ant for suggesting it. If you do not like animation or superheroes you will not like this. I love both, this is really well done and super (see what I did there) good. It is filled with flawed characters and it is not for children. It is an 18+ show, so please don’t think just because it is animated it is for children.

I don’t know why people think all animation is for children, people, do your research. I would not allow Tessa to watch this show in my home, because it is adult in nature, too adult for someone under the age of 18. In my humble opinion, if you are a parent and want to allow your children to watch things that are above their level of understanding then that is on you, not me.

One time, a long time ago, in a land not too far from where I live now, I, along withe my children, were visiting a friend.

Her sister was there and decided she wanted to watch an R rated movie. At that point I said oh it’s time for us to go, we have church tomorrow. My friend knew it was because I didn’t want to my kids watching the movie. She said something about the movie, her sister said you don’t let your kids watch this stuff? I said no I don’t, she said when do you watch R rated stuff. I said well my kids are with their dad the 1st, third and fifth weekends of the month, so there’s that. However, I am not judging you, if you want to do that and are comfortable with the adult themes in movies for your kids, that is your choice.

So there you go, those are my thoughts on that, if you want to watch adult themed shows and movies with your kids that is your choice. My choice was not to, so simple, so eloquent, she took exception to that and told me I was a snob.

Not sure snob is the right word here, but there you have it, snob I shall be in that instance.

Of course my children are grown now and can watch whatever they want.

I was introduced to a new coffee, Goat Head Coffee, it is super smooth and so good. I’ll post the link at the bottom, I highly recommend the Curious Kid.

June 11th can’t come soon enough, Loki is going to be amazing, I hope, I know. Judging from Falcon and Winter Soldier I would say everyone is on track.

That is all I have for now, if you have any show suggestions I would love to hear them.

Oh I almost forgot! How could I! I can’t ignore my biggest fan! Hello China!!

Some Coffee and Some Dog Food

Right now, as I sit here typing, I am multitasking, I am doing a foot mask, a load of laundry, running the dishwasher, making Stormie’s food for the week and drinking water. Oh and I am typing this.

This morning has been busy, I put together an outdoor garden storage box, a patio set and fed the stray cats. That was after having a pot of coffee, of course, nothing begins until coffee has been had. Oh I also saw this TikTok on how to cook bacon a certain way, I tried it and it did not disappoint.

In case you’re curious, you take a baking sheet, line it with parchment paper and then twist the bacon. Put in the oven at 350 degrees, turn after 20 minutes, cook 20 more minutes and it is the right amount of crispy. The perfect amount! I did let mine cook an extra 5 minutes because it was thick sliced bacon, crispy without any burning.

Oh and yes, I do make my dog’s food, it is all real ingredients, no dyes or chemicals. She loves it, if you would like that recipe, it is as follows:

2 cups of brown rice, I cook this in the crockpot for an hour in a about a cup of beef bone broth.

2 or three sweet potatoes, depends on the size

2 packages of vegetable mix of broccoli, cauliflower and carrots

3 pounds of ground meat, she hates turkey so beef for her

I cook it in the crockpot on high for three hours and this amount lasts a week.

I feed her a cup in the morning and a cup in the evening, I warm it up in the microwave for thirty seconds.

I understand she is spoiled and I am ok with that, she is a good companion and semi-loyal, as on a Husky can be.

I have decided to make my patio into an oasis, I have been cleaning it and planting flowers, I want to get a canopy. There is no cover on the back porch and I think that would just be the icing on the cake.

I found some inexpensive ones that look simple to put up, they brag it can be done by one person. I hope that is true, since I am just one person, I was surprised how easy the storage unit and patio table was to put together.

I am not a handy person and I am kind of clumsy, I have been since I was a child.

On to superhero things, I watched the season ender of Falcon and Winter Soldier. It was perfect, I want to say so much more but will not until next week.

The reason being I know not everyone has seen it and I don’t want to inadvertently give any spoilers.

I will tell you this, I became a little emotional during two different scenes. In a good way, I really hope there is a season two.

We did get the release date for Loki, June 11, which is a perfect day. Can I be honest? Any day that Loki would have premiered would have been a perfect day!

This past week was really rough at work, then my second to the last call of the day made the whole week worthwhile. I can’t say too much, just that she also has cameras in her backyard to capture wildlife. Such a fun call to end my week.

It was my service anniversary this week, I have 24 years with this company. Do I feel appreciated? Absolutely not. I would be replaced if I dropped dead while working. They would dock my pay if it was in the middle of my shift.

But something keeps me there, one would say the pay, yes that is part of it, but it is also the people I work with. Also the customers, I genuinely enjoy helping people, sometimes they make it hard to help them, but I enjoy it nonetheless.

I hope you all have had a good week and you have a good one going forward. Oh and hello China! I almost forgot, but I remembered!

Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and Good Conversation

So much to get to, so little time, first off, Good Morning China! I like getting it out of the way, I get a lot of hits from there so I like to say hello to my readers.

So, I picked up Tess yesterday from school, here is our actual conversation:

Tess: Bentley says George Clooney is the best Batman.

Me: actual gasp, no way, everyone knows Michael Keaton is the best. I am batman (in my best deep Batman voice).

Tess: Right, except the Doc Holiday Batman is my favorite. Gigi tell me you know who that is.

Me: of course I know who that is, but the best of the best was Adam West, the original TV Batman.

Tess: Yeah, the the Wonder Woman from TV. Hey Gig, I think it would have been cool if that Batman, Wonder Woman and Dean Cain’s Superman would have done a crossover.

Me: that would have been awesome. Except they were all different decades.

Tess: Whaaaattt!

Me: Yes, Batman in the ’60’s, Wonder Woman in the late ’70’s and early ’80’s and Dean Cain’s Superman in the 1990’s.

Tess: “mind blown” I had no idea.

These are the conversations I live for, who knew when she was born that I would get a best friend who wants to talk about superheroes, Star Wars, Star Trek and everything in between.

I met with my functional nutritionist yesterday, we will be doing blood work in the next couple of weeks to determine where my iron, hormones, vitamin D and other things are at.

Menopause is not for the weak of heart, I literally hate all of it, especially the hot flashes. I am a naturally hot natured person, so this is brutal.

I still refuse to put the chemicals in my body to control this thing. Has anyone really done any studies on what those things do to women? I also am still refusing that beer flu vaccine, those are a chemical soup I refuse to put in my body

I am shocked at how many people are rushing to do this, did they ever stop to think why are they pushing this thing so hard. The harder famous people are pushing this poison the more it makes me not want to take it.

I am blown away by people who are normally so intelligent and make intelligent choices, why are they not going directly to the source. Go to the CDC’s website, look at the deaths they are recording due to these things. No thank you, I would rather take my chance with a virus that has a survival rate of 99.7%.

Last week was completely stressful, we got a new phone system at work, it is largely unworkable for the work my department does. Also the people calling in were on the whole incredibly not nice.

But there was one, there is always one, that makes my job worth doing. It was a single mom with an 11 year old, she was emotional, begging me to do something to get her service working. Her very livelyhood depended on it, I took a look at what was going on, it was complicated and required the cooperation of several different departments. We got her working, it took longer than my shift, I checked on it the next day and saw everything was perfect and working. I called her to check on her, I told her that her situation had touched me, as I had been a single mom and understood her situation.

I told her I could literally feel her stress through the phone and just wanted to make sure everything had gone smoothly after I left.

She told me that everything had gone perfectly and me calling to check on her was the icing on the cake. It made her think more highly of my place of employment.

I take a lot of pride in my work, I enjoy doing it to the best of my ability, I also enjoy helping people. It makes it all worth it when it is appreciated.

I will soon have 24 years with this company, in just a few days, I have been in a lot of different departments. I have worked my way to the title I have now and I am very happy to have been given the opportunity. God works in mysterious ways, I would never have put myself in this line of work so many years ago.

I have made a lot of good friends, some lifelong friendships, some for a season and they have all enriched my life.

I hope you all have a great day, a good weekend and don’t forget God does love you, He does see what you are going through and His presence is always there.

As usual any comments, questions or criticisms can be left here or sent to me at angie@angieworld.com. Oh and if you live in China I would love to hear from you, what do you find so fascinating about me!

Disappointments

I know, I know, I know, this will seem redundant at first glance. However, I’ve seen new things that add even more nuance to the issue at hand.

Joss Whedon, I grow more disillusioned by the day. Ray Fisher was bad enough, now we have Gal Gadot lending credibility to the bad behavior that went on during the Justice League filming.

First of all Gal Gadot is a real life Wonder Woman. She is an Israeli trained soldier. In real life. She isn’t just a pretty face, she’s the real deal. When Whedon tried to intimidate her, well, she didn’t go meekly into the night.

I know this was published back in February, but I just saw this. Charisma Carpenter’s account of what happened to her on the set of Buffy/Angel. I had long suspected part of it. But to see the whole thing was sickening. I highly suggest you check out her twitter account from February 21st.

After Charisma’s post the floodgates opened. His ex-wife stated in 2017 that he was a serial cheater and a liar. He touts himself as a modern day male feminist. Just look at all of my female characters, he says. But behind the scenes it’s a completely different story.

Amber Benson has hinted at her Whedon induced trauma, as has Michelle Tratenberg. She has said there was a rule he was not allowed to meet with her alone due to his inappropriate behavior with her. She was a minor at the time. What did he do to Harriet the Spy???? Sarah Michelle Gellar has issued a statement saying she would forever be proud to be associated with Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but did not want her name associated with Joss Whedon.

I would love to hear from others, the bigger names, some from the Avengers crew. But perhaps those stars were big enough names that he behaved himself. We may never know, what I do know is that my favorite shows are forever tainted.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, The Dollhouse, Firefly, Agents of Shield, the Avengers. All tainted now, Joss Whedon proving that the ones that ring their own bells the loudest have something hiding behind all of the clanging.

Easter and King Kong

So much, I know I have been MIA, but times goes fast, then slow, then not at all. First off, good morning China! I see you still love my writing, so I wanted to be sure and recognize you. I am still not getting the hokey pokey for the beer flu.

That is out of the way and we can continue with my musings.

Easter was last weekend, the day we come together to celebrate our Lord and Savior’s victory over death. I celebrate by going to my oldest son and his wife’s house. It was filled with lots of food, laughter, people (this is Texas, the land of the free), children and family.

Our family might look a little different than other peoples family. I ate at the same table as my ex-husband and his wife. As a matter of fact I sat next to his wife, she’s funny, I like her.

But before that, on Thursday, Tess and I went to the movies, to the actual theater. We say Godzilla vs King Kong, we had the popcorn, we sat in the seats and we had a good time. The movie was fun, familiar and formulaic, a good start to returning to our normal lives.

I did have an incident with the movie theater chain, not at the theater itself. I received an email on Saturday telling me that I had gone to see a movie in Boston. I was like um no, I log into my app and someone had hacked it and used my two free movie credits.

I called, spoke to someone very nice who sounded just as horrified as I was. He promised to take care of it, a few days later I receive an email stating it wasn’t their problem. Too bad, so sad, for me. I replied with is this a joke, the next day I received a phone call. It was from a very nice representative from Cinemark. Apologizing profusely, she not only gave me the two credits that were taken from me, she added two more. She did not have to do that, but it did make me appreciate the company.

I will be going back to the theater and I will make up the freebies at the concession stand. We do love our popcorn, I get water, I don’t drink pop. Yes, I said pop, not coke, not soda, POP.

I went to Target yesterday, sans mask, what a wonderful experience. And surreal, I was very literally the only one in there without one. I am astounded that people actually wear them, they do nothing. That has been proven over and over, by science. I will be going to Costco today, I think they make you if you want to shop there. So yes, I will wear one, because I need some things.

No one is talking about how Texas opened 100%, mask mandate gone, and the beer flu cases are going steadily down. Interesting how no one wants to acknowledge that fact, probably because it is not in their best interest.

I am going now, I have to get dressed and do my errands, then I can reward myself with the latest episode of Falcon and Winter Soldier, oh and the Mighty Ducks new show. Super cute and well worth the price of admission.

As usual, any comments, questions or criticisms can be left here or sent to me at angie@angieworld.com. If the China people could let me know what the find so fascinating I’d really appreciate it!
