Last night was the finale to Stars Earn Stripes, it was a nail biter, I am still stressed over it! I so wanted Dean Cain to win, he was in the top three, alas he did not win in the end. However, he did acquit himself very well.
He conquered his fears and proved over and over why I love him so much, not just because he is pretty, but because he is fearless. He is also gracious and generous, he was there for the other people on the show, encouraging them to do their best as well. Dean, if you need comforting after your loss, call me, I can be very sympathetic and the Irishman said it is ok with him if we hang out.
In other news this weekend, Rene Baio (aka @MrsScottBaio) participated in the Disney 1/2 Run to raise money and awareness for her and her husbands charity The Bailey Baio Angel Foundation. Please go to the website http://www.baileybaioangelfoundation.com to find out more information. It really is commendable how this couple took an episode of their life, a false health scare regarding their newborn, and turned it into something positive. They have created a foundation to raise money and awareness for screening newborns for a specific disease. I am not going to go into detail here as it is their story and they tell it very well on their website. I have decided to make them my charity of choice when giving money. I have a couple of others, but they will be my main one, I admire so much people who take the negative and use it to champion others.
Taking a negative and making a positive, interesting choice, they could have easily said oh our child is healthy, see ya later. Instead they chose to use their celebrity for good instead of partying and being skanky and rude. Good for you Baio family, good for you!
Favors, Eating Dog and Birthday Celebration
Yesterday I went to my B.B.F.F.’s home to do him a favor, now mind you he had bribed me into doing said favor. Bribed me with my own belongings I might add, yes, I am easily bribed, you see he had, what I like to refer to as, the Joss Whedon collection. He had Buffy, Angel and Firefly DVD’s, so off I went to complete said favor. When I get to the location I see that Firefly is missing, I send a quick text asking if he was trying to steal part of my Whedon collection. He says, isn’t that mine? I said um no. He then says oh that’s right, I bought Serenity and Firefly belongs to you.
So I ask why he is trying to steal Nathan Fillion, he takes a while to answer, when he does he claims it is Jewel Staite and Morena Baccarin he was in fact trying to steal. I would like to take a moment and point out that on Monday nights when Castle is new, I get text messages extolling the great talents of Nathan Fillion. That’s all.
On Twitter yesterday I had something interesting happen, I saw a tweet from @MrsScottBaio, she was answering someone who had blasted her for carrying a purse made of leather. I said that God put animals here for us to eat and utilize their skin. The crazy person, not Scott Baio’s wife, then sent me a tweet saying it was like wearing and eating my dog. Seriously? You are comparing beef to dog? Chicken to dog? Pork to dog? I don’t know where these people come from, such extremist, I don’t care that you don’t eat meat, don’t wear leather, why do you feel the need to put me down? Do you think such tactics will work, oh some rabid nut in Australia says I shouldn’t wear leather or eat meat, let me change my ways, she must be right. What the heck?
I will continue to carry my leather Coach purse (thank you Elizabeth Anne) and I will continue to wear leather shoes, I will continue to eat meat, poultry, fish and dairy. I firmly believe God put these animals on earth to sustain human life, a good balanced meal is important for your body that includes vegetable, grains and yes meat.
This morning got to have coffee with the Irishman, very pleasant indeed, we discussed news stories and movies. Just a pleasant way to start the morning, I like my mornings to start out pleasant, I believe that tells me how the day is going to go. It is Friday, it is the weekend of Tessa’s birthday, I am so excited to give her the presents that I have for her. She is such an amazing little girl, I feel so blessed I get to be her Gigi.
Inspired by @MrsScottBaio
So the other day on twitter Scott Baio tweeted a picture of a table and said something to the effect that his wife had done a good job with a luncheon she was having. Then someone tweeted back, was this after mass, to which @MrsScottBaio (Renee Baio) tweeted she was Christian not Catholic, I really think she meant Baptist in the place of Christian, but it was thrown out there in twitterverse and the beating began. One woman actually tweeted that because they were not married in the Catholic church their marriage wasn’t valid. People were just brutal, one man said he would have thought Scotty would prefer Catholic girls dressed in little school girl outfits, I stared at that for a while. Does this man not realize Scott Baio is a grown man and prefers a woman as opposed to a girl, and he is saying this to the mother of Scott’s child, and his wife. It was really crazy and yes, Mrs Baio did come back and say she didn’t mean to imply that Catholics were not Christians and that she was a Baptist Southern girl so obviously Scott preferred her over the Catholic schoolgirls.
I am a Baptist Southern girl myself, a FreeWill Baptist Southern girl, I believe that Catholicism is not a different religion, it is a different denomination. I cannot believe the beating that was rained down on Renee Baio for not being Catholic, I have a lot of Catholic friends, in fact my BBFF, aka Jess, is Catholic. He, nor any of my friends, have ever tried to tell me I was not a Christian due to my beliefs, and in turn I have not done that to them. In fact, Jess and I have had many philosophical and theological conversations, I can’t really call them debates as we end up agreeing with each other.
Here is the real point, if we as Christians cannot recognize that if a person believes Jesus Christ was born of a virgin, died to save us, then rose three days later to ascend to heaven, how can we respect anyones beliefs?
I had a wonderful Sunday School teacher in Owasso, Oklahoma, Mrs Hall, who told us in order to understand why we believe the way we do we needed to study other religions and denominations. She brought books to us, of course I was about the only one that read them, but I understood. I had a better view of the world after those lessons and a better understanding of the people around me.
I would like everyone to remember that Catholicism was the only Christian religion on earth until Martin Luther began the reformation. Please pick up a history book people, we are all Christians trying to make a better life for our children and the people around us. We should all be lifting each other up and not trying to tear each other down. If we do not have respect for each other how can we expect people of truly different religions to respect us as a whole.
Oh and FYI my first husband was Catholic and the man I am engaged to currently, The Irishman, is also Catholic. Therefore we can conclude Catholic men like Baptist women.
So, hats off to you @MrsScottBaio for standing up for what you believe in and not taking any of the insults hurled your way personally.
