Wild Weekend

Monday morning is upon us, and it is truly a Monday for me,no pseudo Thursday, tomorrow is not Friday, my new Friday will be Thursday and I only have one a week now, however I will have three days off in a row. Still spoiled. I am hoping to make some day trips to Oklahoma this fall to see my cousins, very excited about that. I will have to check with them to see if they want my company.
Well this weekend was spent really kinda lazily, Saturday I went errand running with a friend, then lunch at Mi Cocina, which I love and had not been in a while.
It was so nice we sat on the patio, I became fascinated with the fish and ducks in the little pond, I fed them almost all of our chips. Part of the main meal as well, it was just so fascinating to watch them all converge upon the offering, then to almost fight over it. It was like my very own Hunger Games happening right there.
Sunday was very lazy, I should have done laundry, I did not, instead Alex came over and we spent several hours debating politics, religion and a host of other subjects. Completely enjoyable! I love that, I have such a different relationship with each of my children, Jeffrey and I agree on almost every subject, Alex and I disagree on a lot, Elizabeth couldn’t give two cents worth for politics or religion, we shop and talk of other things.
Another happening is I have begun using the new Mary Kay TimeWise Repair skin care system, it is amazing! I am already loving it, I credit Mary Kay and good genetics for my youthful appearance, I have been using Mary Kay since Elizabeth Anne was 6 months old and she is 23 now, I do not look my age at all. So, run ladies, don’t walk, and get this fabulous new product.
Well that is all I have for now, completely tired from my do nothing weekend, will be going in to work and helping all the people. Call us for tech support! We are there to help!

Exciting News for Freddy

Well I did not get picked for jury duty, very disappointed, yet again, however the courthouse I went to this time was outstanding! Beautiful architecture and the inside was just fabulous, if I had to choose a waiting room, well this was exceptional. Till next time courthouse, then perhaps lady justice wil choose me to dispense her brand.
Yesterday was spent taking the Irishman to the doctor, he is still not even 30% better but he is on the mend. Then out to lunch, I was finally able to take him for his annual birthday steak. Then dropping him off, a little rest for me, then up and at ’em.
Costco, Target, the mall and finally, getting to see my son on his birthday, priceless. So happy I got to spend time with my amazing son on his day. Also got to see Alex and Freddy, always a treat, I found out that Freddy will be doing some writing for a hunting magazine. So excited for him, this is huge news, he is an avid hunter and even a hunting guide. Writing about his experiences is the natural progression for someone as passionate about the sport as he is. Can’t wait to read what he writes!
Well it is back to work for me, two days then I get to sleep in on Saturday and catch back up on laundry, I cannot remember if I have anything else to do, my mind is a blank right now.
I am working on Monday, from 7am to 4pm, not too bad, get to sleep in a little then get off an hour earlier than I normally do. Next week is my last week on my current schedule, then it is 4 straight work days of 6 am to 5pm, it will take some getting used to, however I am looking forward to 3 days off in a row.

Friday the 13th

Yesterday morning I had the scariest experience I have had in a long time at work, I came in, was putting my things down and I heard a noise behind me. I turn, I look down, there it is, a giant hissing water bug, it starts running toward me. I do the only thing I can do, I scream, I kick at it and knock it back to my coworkers desk, it flips several times. Then when the thing gets its bearings, its wings go out, and it hisses and runs at me, I scream again and this time, yes, this time folks I take its life. I had no other option, it was attacking, it was in self defense. The thing was three inches long and one inch in diameter.
I would like to take this time to point out this is what happens when there is no winter, we have massive bugs. I am fine, a little traumatized, but fine. However due to my experiences and the week I have had, I deserve a treat and have a Starbucks. I am still angry with them, but I can’t quit them, I got nowhere else to go. Not really, I have options, just couldn’t resist the Officer and a Gentleman reference.
Well, last night was Dean Cain’s episode of the Choice, in case you are wondering I did not watch I am still so angry with him. I know this disagreement we have had will pass, he is still number one on my list, however, with this latest stunt, Chris Hemsworth is creeping up on you Dean. Unless you can quickly redeem yourself, you may find yourself replaced on my infamous list.
Yesterday was Alex’s birthday, I cannot believe my youngest child is 21 years old; it doesn’t seem that long ago when he was waking up in his crib full of sunshine and goodness. I love you son, you are one of the top three best things that ever happened to me.
Today is Friday the 13th that has always been a good luck day in my family; everyone should have a good luck day. Find one and adopt it, this one is mine; I will share if you want it though. I hope everyone has a great day, a fantastic weekend, and a great month.

A Great Day Indeed

Well, happy Thursday, I see another gateway day has graced us with it’s presence, very happy to see you friend. Has anyone ever noticed how happy Thursdays are? There is a joyousness that cannot be denied, an anticipatory feeling in the air. The weekend is near and anything is possible, a very happy day indeed. This week has been full of goodness, I got to see Jeffrey and Tess more than usual and Alex came home. I communicate with Elizabeth Anne almost every day, whether it is via text, twitter or actual voice. Life is good, I am a fortunate mother, I have amazing children.
Things are good at home, I have no complaints at this point in life, oh it doesn’t hurt that every single thing I ordered this weekend came in yesterday as well.
I renewed my license and the woman that was helping me said wow you have lost a lot of weight since this last picture was taken, I wanted to hug her, make her my new best friend. However since there is a man with a gun working at the DMV I decided not to hop the counter and left with a simple thank you.
Perhaps today will be a Starbucks day, I can practically hear the Passion Tea calling my name, I get it sans sweetener so it is 0 points. Oh, speaking of, did I tell you all I am completely off of te artificial sweeteners? I have switched to honey in my coffee and have not looked back. I do feel better, so far no sinus infections, we will see during the spring season, when it is so windy and there are so many allergins in the air.
Well people, I am totally out of here, looking forward to a good day at work and a good workout afterward. Oh wow, that last part made me literally laugh out loud. No such thing as a good workout!

Gratefulness, Weight and Henry

I discovered a new television show, on TLC, it is a 4 part series where they have followed four different people from 2004 to 2011 who started out at over 600 pounds and had the gastric bypass. First up was Henry, he lives in Houston, TX and was close to 700 pounds. This is a man who could not walk without the use of a walker, he lost te ability to work due to not being able to get around. They interviewed his mother who said she blamed herself because she allowed him to eat anything and everything when he was growing up. Henry made the decision to have the surgery and make the lifestyle changes. This man realized he was going to have to change, that it was not an easy fix, he would still have to do the work. And work he did, he joined a gym, his first goal to walk without aid, he did it! I have to tell you, I was proud of him, he was working hard. He lost enough that he qualified for skin removal surgery. After the surgery his sister is taking him home and says I have to get Momma a sandwich and stops at McDonald’s. When they get home it shows everyone chowing down on these huge burgers, fries, sodas and shakes. Does Henry falter? No, he does not! He says to the camera this is hard, and gets up and goes to his bedroom and shuts the door. He is determined not to go backwards. By the end of the show, Henry has lost almost 500 pounds, he is down to 275, it ends with footage of his wedding. 53 years old and married for the first time.
I love this man, his determination and plain old-fashioned stick to it attitude was amazing, even when faced with temptation Henry kept going. We could all take a lesson from Henry, set a goal and stick to it, not just with weight, but with anything we want to do. What I took from the program is that anything is possible once you set your mind to it. Even when faced with what seems like an insurmountable goal, like losing 500 pounds, if you do it one step at a time you will get there.
Yesterday I had so many good things happen, my car was fixed, I got to have a small coffee treat with the Irishman, I got to see Jeffrey and Tessa and Alex came home from Mexico. So many things to be grateful for, I believe if we are grateful for even the small things in life the bigger ones are that much sweeter. I am going to end this post with one thing I am grateful for:
I am grateful for the many people in my life that never give up on me.
