Coffee Fueled Ramblings

With Steve Rogers going back in time at the end of Endgame shouldn’t Agent Carter get a revisit? What a great show with only two seasons, ABC you missed the mark canceling that one. I know I’m late with this and it has been over for several years, but with the release of Disney+ I find renewed passion for the show.

Last night I was treated to dinner at my oldest son’s home, homemade hamburgers and sweet potato tater tots. Not to mention good company and being regaled with stories from children. I also played games with a very lively 5 year old, I think he cheats, I warned him I cheat at Candy Land and Monopoly, but I think he’s better at it than I am. So much fun!

When I picked Tess up from school yesterday her mom sent me a text and asked me to call her and put her on speaker phone. Of course I obliged, she then told Tessa that she had received a call from her history teacher. He said that Tess was a born leader and he has started calling her Madam President. He said the other children in the class look to her for leadership and she is his favorite student in that class. In a class of 30 kids she stands out, I am so proud of her!

Sometimes I am overwhelmed with humility to think that God chose me to be the mother and grandmother of such great humans.

This mornings ramblings are brought to you by coffee, one half Black Riffle Smooth Silencer and one half Godiva Caramel. So good, I wish Godiva still made the Creme  Brûlée but they have apparently stopped making that particular flavor.

I love creme brûlée, unfortunately for me, so many calories and so much sugar, but the coffee was heavenly and had no sugar or calories. If anyone knows someone at Godiva that has influence tell them of my plight and disappointment.

Last night when I got home 20/20 was on, does anyone remember when that used to be a real news show? I used to watch it growing up and I loved it, Hugh Downs was excellent, now it is a true crime show.

I miss real news shows and real news anchors, I know I have said this before, I’m not senile, but I really miss Walter Cronkite. There was something comforting in his sign-off, I am all for bringing back real newscasters, now we have people who insinuate themselves in the story and put their own spin on it. Ridiculous, tell me what happened and I will form my own opinion about, well, everything.

Dean would make a great newscaster, have you ever noticed they all have great hair. He has great hair, and he’s literally the prettiest man alive. Even in person! Why yes, I will be telling everyone that I met him and he was even better looking in person.

Back to Peggy Carter, the show was smart, funny, action packed, well written, directed and acted. Not to mention the costuming was pitch perfect for the time period. It was killed off way too soon and there was no closure, Hayley Atwell deserves better. We, the fans, deserve better, Captain America deserves better, let’s just say it, America deserves better. I may have had a little bit of coffee (a whole pot is not too much right?), for cognizant thinking.

I’m going to go now because I am rambling and I have things to do, I bought a new Christmas Tree and I want to get the living room Christmas ready.

Have a great Saturday, as usual, any comments, questions or criticisms can be left here or sent to me at angie@angieworld.com

Updates and Geek Happiness

I have an update on the toddler that was placed in the washing machine in the laundromat that I talked about a few days ago. The original news story identified the man and woman as the little boys parents. I am happy to report they were not his parents, horrified to tell you it was his babysitter and her boyfriend. The parents didn’t find out until the police showed up at their door to question them regarding the incident. This my friends is every parents nightmare, that the person you have entrusted with the care of your child, so you can work to support your family, is an abuser. Or in this case allowed someone else to harm the child. I hope they get stiff sentences, I will have to keep an eye on this. Thank you to Stacy for sending me the updated story.

Today is Friday and the start of a three-day weekend, an amazing occurrence, as next week I only work three days, without taking a vacation day, how amazing is that! I am very happy, I have my movie for tomorrow, One for the Money, loved the book, love the movie, can’t wait to watch it again.

I may sneak in another Avengers watching, I have not decided as of yet, I have a theory. I fully believe if I see the movie enough times I will become part of it. I think fighting off an alien attack will be way less stressful than the life I have here. We shall see, I’ll keep you updated. In the meantime Loki and Captain America are on twitter! Ok, so it is the actors that play them that are on twitter. I wonder if they have the internet on Asgard, hmmmmm something I shall check out when I become part of the movie.

Well must go for now, getting dressed and heading to work for another exciting day, oh, yes, I have news from the workfront. One of my co-workers, Jason, made mention of Thor being on my IPad, he asked if it was just the actor or the character that I was infatuated with. I started going on and on about the myth and comic books and Joseph Campbell, as I tend to do. I asked if it was too much only to find out he likes mythology as well, so happy to have another geek in the row! So hiho hiho it’s off to work I go, I hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Hiding From the World

So I saw pictures of me from the party I went to last Friday night, wow, all I can say is wow. Why has none of my friends told me how hideous I truly look? My arms look like giant ham hocks hanging off of my shoulders. It was raining so my hair was out of control, is it ok to tell everyone who posted a picture of me to take it down?

You know, there are times I think I look pretty good, then I see a photo, or pass a mirror, or see the look in a certain man’s eyes. I know I am old, wrinkled, saggy and just plain old-fashioned ugly. I should get a job where I can stay home out of the public eye, that would save countless people from being grossed out.

On an up side, my day off was fantastic, I did laundry, drank a ton of coffee and watched old episodes of Dark Shadows. That was my favorite show when I was a kid, I loved it, I was probably too young for it, but my grandma let me watch it. Pure, old fashioned greatness. I didn’t leave my home one single time, I could do this forever, I think deep down inside I could be a great agoraphobic. I could stay in my home, order food in, never leave, and be perfectly happy. Except for when the next Avengers movie comes out, then I will be at the theater to watch the minute it hits the screen.

Today is my Monday/Thursday, that makes me happy, this weekend I have the Ladies that Lunch. Oh I would leave my abode for that as well, once a month get dressed up and leave the house. Perfect. Does anyone else feel that way? You could just stay in your pajamas for days on end, never seeing anyone, reading, eating, being alone. It’s great for introspection, I could solve all my problems if I just had time to sit and think about them for a while, uninterrupted. This is why we do not have world peace, no one gets any real alone time anymore. The world leaders should each take a month, the same month, go inside, and not come out until they figure out why they can’t get along with anyone, and why there are starving people in the world. I am brilliant. People just need to listen to me more often, or for the first time.

Ok, now for the word of the day: utopia – an ideal place, or state. Sentence: I dream of a utopia where everyone dresses according to their body type, their actual body type, not their imagined body type.

The Start of Geek Week

Well it is the start of Geek Week for me, Thursday is the day I see all of the Avenger movies leading up to the midnight showing of The Avengers. I am so beyond excited!
So, the Irishman is still sick, he is better on the medication, as soon as it is gone; the symptoms come back in full force. It is crazy; I hope they can figure out what is wrong with him.
Nothing very eventful over the weekend, I did notice someone is reading every single thing I have ever written here. I wonder who you are, the only comments I have gotten from someone I don’t know was a crazy person defending a child abuser. She has been blocked from commenting, so if it is said crazy person, I will never know. If you are not the crazy person, please feel free to let me know who you are.
So two episodes in and RHONJ is rockin it! Man oh man, Teresa is alienating everyone, her husband Juicy Joe is starting physical fights and Melissa and Joey are quickly becoming my favorite couple. The emotional reaction that he had when she played her new song for him, which she wrote for him, was just nothing short of amazing. Every woman wants someone that feels that way about her, hands down best scene of the night. I love that Bravo didn’t back down about the accusations that Joe is cheating on Teresa, her fans that went to her book signings all tell her they are praying for her. Women can forgive an inordinate amount of wrong doing; hopefully they can pull things together. They have four daughters together, reason enough to work on things and get their acts together.
Poor Lauren, battling her weight issues, I understand how she feels, the battle is a hard one, especially if you have a family that eats big. They are Italian and Italians have all that great food and she was right when she said that summer is one of the worst times to begin a new eating regimen. I saw from a Facebook post from her mom, Caroline, that the diet did indeed work. Lauren looks fantastic; I hope we get to see some of the struggle. I believe it would help young women who battle this issue to know they are not alone and even the wealthy are not immune to the emotional turmoil that comes with battling ones weight.
Jacqueline, wow, so heartbreaking to watch her do the tough love with Ashley, and how really ditzy does one have to be to miss their flight while looking for a Dunkin Donuts? Really Ashley? The next day Christopher, Jacqueline’s husband took Ashley and made sure she got on the flight to her aunt and uncles home. They are sending her there in the hopes that it will help her grow up; being at home is sometimes not an option when the child becomes belligerent, lazy and rudderless. I understand the move did Ashley good and she found her direction in life. We are seeing the struggle that led to that growth.
Well, that’s all I got, I hope everyone has a great Geek Week! Let’s make this a great week for Joss Whedon!

Terrific Thursday

Today is Monday/Thursday, yesterday was a mini weekend, and it was good, so strange being off in the middle of the week without taking a vacation day. I think I am going to like this. I went to Bonham and saw Jeffrey and Elizabeth Anne yesterday, so nice, and came home and got caught up on laundry. Oh and it was clean sheet day, wow, it just could not have gotten any better!
Tuesday’s Zumba just about killed me, that instructor was a beast, in a really good way, going back for more today. I think my body is changing due to the zumba dancing, I feel different in my clothes, like they fit different. I am loving it!
I am very excited to go back today and be tortured all over again, I know I am going to sleep well tonight! Just one more week until my huge Avengers event, I am so way beyond excited about this. I have seriously never done anything this geeky in my entire life and it feels good. Ok, dressing up as Wonder Woman, that was pretty geeky, no wait, that was just cool. Yup, still nothing as geeky as next week will be.
I hope everyone has a great, geeky Thursday!

Total Geek Happenings

I am going to admit to a major geeky thing I am going to do, I am so excited! On May 3, the Irishman and I, starting at noon, will be at the movie theater watching all of the Avenger movies, Iron Man I and II, Thor, The Hulk and Captain America, culminating at midnight with the showing of The Avengers, so freakin excited! I am going to totally geek out!
I love the Avengers and I love Joss Whedon, I cannot wait to see what he has done with this franchise. Expect live tweeting, if you are not following me on twitter, now is the time. I will not be tweeting any spoilers of the new movie, no fears on that end, probably a lot of O.M.G and Wow and Joss Rocks, will be on the menu of tweets.
Does anyone out there have a total geekfest coming up? I know Jess does. If not what is your favorite geek out moment in your life? I have too many to really mention, however, my very first total geek out was at Star Trek the Motion Picture, it was when Spock walked onto the bridge wearing all black. An epic moment indeed.
so I confessed mine, your turn, confess yours.

My New Career

I have decided that I want to do celebrity interviews, the problem is I don’t know any celebrities, however I shall not let that stop me. I am going to do fake celebrity interviews, I will ask the questions then answer how I think they would answer. Fun! Ok, now I just have to decide who is first, I know, Dean Cain is the obvious answer, but I don’t want to be obvious, Christian Kane comes to mind immediately, I mean he is filming the new season of Leverage right now and doing publicity is part of his job. I think I might be to nervous to interview him right now, must gain experience in doing fake celebrity interviews before tackling major crushes.
Ah, the perfect person to cut my teeth on, so to speak, Joss Whedon, he does have the new Avengers moving coming out May 4th, he does need the publicity. Joss it is! I hope I don’t Baio it all up!!!
Welcome everyone to my very first ever fake celebrity interview, please join me in welcoming Fake Joss Whedon to the party!
Me: Mr Whedon, thank you so much for taking the time to speak to me today.
FJW: Please call me Joss, and thank you for allowing me to be your first Fake Celebrity.
Me: Joss, first off, let me get my geeky awkwardness out of the way, I love Buffy, Angel, Firefly, The Dollhouse, really anything you do. I would jump up and down and squeal, however I am trying to pretend I am sophisticated.
FJW: Thank you, my fans are the lifeblood of my career. Without all of you I would just be lining the walls of a studio apartment with unread scripts.
Me: Let’s talk Avengers
FJW: Happily
Me: How was it working with all of these superheros?
FJW: Um, you do realize they are actors right? Not actual superheros?
Me: What!!! You used fake superheros? How does one actually do that in a movie about them?
FJW: I think I made a mistake booking this fake interview.
Me: Next you will be telling me that Angel really wasn’t 200 years old and that a fake vampire was used in the shows.
FJW: Help me!
Me: Ok, was SMG even a real Vampire Slayer?
FJW: I’m fake leaving.
Thank you all for being at my first Fake Celebrity Interview!
