Real Housewives of New Jersey Stress

Well, another weekend is gone, another three day weekend is gone, I got to spend Friday in Bonham seeing Jeffrey, Elizabeth and Alex. A great day indeed, I spent time at the shop with the boys, and then I went to Elizabeth Anne’s office and got the grand tour.
She has so much Office stuff, from Dunder Mifflin Paper to a Dwight bobble head, so cool! I took pictures and posted them to Facebook, so if you really know me and are friends with me you can see the items there.
Then it was off to pick Tess up from school and take her to Jump Street for an adventure, we jumped and ran and had a ton of fun. Then it was McDonald’s so she could eat and play some more. She made friends with some girls on the playground and had a ton of fun there as well. A good afternoon indeed.
On Saturday, it was Avengers day, I watched everything, from the gag reel to the extended scenes to the one narrated by Joss Whedon. Then I watched the movie again, for the 7th time, yes you are reading correctly, the 7th time, no I did not assimilate into the movie yet. I don’t believe that happens until like the 30th time. So I have plenty of time to pick out my outfit that I will be wearing for all eternity in the film.
I stayed up last night and watched the first part of the reunion show for the Real Housewives of New Jersey. I am so stressed out by that show; Theresa is either living in such denial, is delusional or is a pathological liar. I can’t decide, even when confronted by the fact that she does not write her own blog and doesn’t even know the meanings of the words used in the blog she will not give it up. She put down Caroline for being overweight and not having any plastic surgery. Ok, what kind of world are we living in when women are put down for NOT having plastic surgery? I know I talk about it a lot, wanting to have it, but I would never put down anyone for not having it. My mother and grandmother were beautiful women and they never had plastic surgery. Shame on you Theresa for putting someone down for being natural, shame on you for saying your husband could get more phone numbers at a bar than someone else’s husband. What? Who would brag on something like that amid the rumors of your husband cheating on you? Seriously? I believe Jacqueline over you, it is that simple, as does most of America, I do believe you are narcissistic on a level that is beyond comprehension. I do not believe you were that way the first season, you were more into your daughters and your home life, yes to some extent your looks, however we are all to some extent into our looks, but now you have surpassed everyone on a level that is just scary. Stop putting others down to make yourself feel better and know that when a parent has passed you do not EVER say anything about them that is derogatory in nature. I don’t even know if I can stomach watching the other two installments of the reunion, but I probably will.

Dean Cain and Ares

It’s Friday and I was so desperate for a Starbucks treat, I had them put an extra shot of espresso in, just for luck. Soon I will be flying, I hate to be the one that breaks it to everyone, it is not Redbull that gives you wings, it’s coffee, caffeine, Starbucks that gives you wings.
I have discovered the HUB, it is a television station, it shows great television, for example: Lois and Clark; The New Adventures of Superman, Hercules, Sliders, just to name a few. I am so beyond excited, not just for Dean Cain viewing, but for Ares viewing on Hercules! I had the biggest crush on Ares, I know, cliché, we always want the bad boy. There is no badder boy than Ares; the god of war, that man was just, well, hot, there is not other word for him. His personality was on point, sarcasm with a hint of surly, who can resist that? Not this woman, I had high hopes for the actor that played Ares, he really was great in that role, unfortunately he has passed away. However I can still enjoy him in Hercules re-runs, just a hint, I would love the DVD’s.
So, last weekend I hurt my Achilles heel, Elizabeth Anne kept saying “you mean your tendons mom?” I said I like saying Achilles heel better as it makes me seem god like. She snorted at me; well it was more of a look, but still. Don’t we all want something to make us fee immortal? Didn’t we all want to be a god or goddess when we were in the fifth grade and read Homer for the first time? I remember reading the Greek and Roman mythologies and being transported to a world that was magical, powerful and where I got to be in control of not only my destiny but the destiny of others. What a heady feeling, so if I want to say I hurt my Achilles heel, I get to say that.
So, the Irishman’s oldest daughter is sick, and now so is the Irishman, with his ongoing illness it has left him vulnerable to germs. I am happy to report I am impervious, I never get sick, the most I ever get is sinus stuff and since I changed my artificial sweetener to local honey I don’t get that.
I hope everyone has a great day, a wonderful weekend and decides to consciously do the right thing, no matter what that may be.

Facebook Drama

Today is my Friday, oh how I have missed you, I longed for Tuesday to be Friday, but it was not to be, i have now subjected myself to the once a week Friday. Granted it is coming a day earlier than most people’s, but still, only one Friday a week for me.
Tomorrow will be spent picking up Tess from school, I have something special planned for her, I am so excited! Ok, so, I bought her this pink furry coat and I am in such a quandary, do I give it to her now, or wait until Christmas. If we get a real cold front she could wear it now, well not September but perhaps the end of October, November, get more use out of it. Plus I would get to have the joy of giving it to her and take pictures of her. Elizabeth Anne had a fuzzy coat when she was little, I can hardly wait to give Tessa hers! Ok, so tomorrow is new coat day as well!
I found a new place to take her, CooCoo’s, I have checked them out and they look so fun! I know she and I will have a blast.
Ok, so, Facebook, I decided that when I first created a profile on Facebook that it would only be for friends and family. I went beyond that and started playing those games and accepting requests from people who I really wasn’t comfortable having on there. So, I decided to clean up my Facebook account, I started deleting people who in the world we would not be friends, we would never hang out together, I really didn’t want to be apprised of their thoughts, their daily habits, as I am sure they had no interest in mine. I announced that I would no longer being playing any games, such as Castleville, Cityville, Mafia Wars and Yoville and if anyone wanted to delete me, please feel free.
I really wanted my Facebook to keep up with people I don’t get to see every day, people who I do see, however don’t get to hang out with after work, and for long-lost friends, family, relationships of that nature. Thanks to the games I do have some people who I have gotten to know and they stuck around, deleting people is hard work, but I shall persevere and keep cleaning.
Today is Starbucks day, I am very happy, I shall be indulging, I hope everyone has a great Friday, oh I mean Thursday.

Wild Weekend

Monday morning is upon us, and it is truly a Monday for me,no pseudo Thursday, tomorrow is not Friday, my new Friday will be Thursday and I only have one a week now, however I will have three days off in a row. Still spoiled. I am hoping to make some day trips to Oklahoma this fall to see my cousins, very excited about that. I will have to check with them to see if they want my company.
Well this weekend was spent really kinda lazily, Saturday I went errand running with a friend, then lunch at Mi Cocina, which I love and had not been in a while.
It was so nice we sat on the patio, I became fascinated with the fish and ducks in the little pond, I fed them almost all of our chips. Part of the main meal as well, it was just so fascinating to watch them all converge upon the offering, then to almost fight over it. It was like my very own Hunger Games happening right there.
Sunday was very lazy, I should have done laundry, I did not, instead Alex came over and we spent several hours debating politics, religion and a host of other subjects. Completely enjoyable! I love that, I have such a different relationship with each of my children, Jeffrey and I agree on almost every subject, Alex and I disagree on a lot, Elizabeth couldn’t give two cents worth for politics or religion, we shop and talk of other things.
Another happening is I have begun using the new Mary Kay TimeWise Repair skin care system, it is amazing! I am already loving it, I credit Mary Kay and good genetics for my youthful appearance, I have been using Mary Kay since Elizabeth Anne was 6 months old and she is 23 now, I do not look my age at all. So, run ladies, don’t walk, and get this fabulous new product.
Well that is all I have for now, completely tired from my do nothing weekend, will be going in to work and helping all the people. Call us for tech support! We are there to help!

One Person Making a Difference

The other day I was having a conversation with Elizabeth Anne, the topic turned to voting, as I steered it there. I told her I fully expected her to vote in the upcoming presidential election. She said, “mom, one person can’t make a difference” I said oh yes they can, a whole lot of one person voting can make a difference. I heard a sigh, felt the eye roll, along with the placating words of yes mom, ok mom, just to get me to shut up.
I want to tell everyone that one person can make a difference, shall we start with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, her Declaration of Sentiments, which she presented at the first women’s rights convention held in 1848, is said to be the instrument used to initiate the first organized woman’s rights and woman’s suffrage movements in the United States. One person making a difference so women in this country could vote, a right not afforded to them. Women at that time were thought of as property, first of their father’s and then of their husbands. They could be raped, beaten, discarded and even killed by the men in their lives and nothing was done about it.
Women like Elizabeth Cady Stanton changed that, gave women voices, they could vote, they could keep their children when divorcing an abusive husband. It all changed because one woman stood up and said enough.
In this country I believe that women especially should vote, due to the fact that reason we can vote is because women endured imprisonment, beatings and some even died so we could go to a voting booth and make our voices heard.
I will be at that voting booth on Tuesday, November 6, 2012, I will make my voice heard, my choice known and I will remember why I have this right in the first place. One woman making a difference.

Expectations

Expectations. We all have them, we have expectations with ourselves, with the people that are in our lives, with the goods and services we purchase. What would life be like without expectations. I have always been taught that what we expect out of people we will receive, this is not always true, sometimes you get nasty surprises when you have expected nothing but the best. Sometimes in life your expectations do not match reality, it is what happens after the the expectation has been burst that matters most.
When you have been let down, do you give up, do damage control or do you get to work to let whatever, or whomever has not lived up to your expectations know that is not acceptable. Do you continue to stay and work on something that has not met with your expectations? Well that is the million dollar question, and I have no million dollar answers for you, I am still seeking those answers for myself.
I will tell you this, I have had very few people in my life that have met my expectations of them, sad really. When my expectations were so simple, I will not list them, just know that I am the fight or flight type of person and am still trying to figure out which one I want to do at times.
My weekend was uneventful, Costco, taking the Irishman’s daughters swimming two days in a row, Target and dinner in. I really wanted some Taco Bueno, maybe the next time Elizabeth Anne comes to town we can get some. I have a nice redness going on with my arms and face, legs will not get color. I do believe that the sun rays bounce off of their whiteness and land somewhere back in the ether. They refuse to take any kind of pigment, so sunless tanning lotion it is for them.
I shall leave you with your deep thoughts on expectations today, I would love to know your thoughts, angie@angieworld.com is the place to send them. Toodles.

Language

I was thinking about colloquialisms, the ones I grew up with and the ones I still use today, as everyone knows I grew up in Oklahoma, however the speech patterns I was surrounded by were pure Southern. Fixin to, I’ll be there directly, let’s go over yonder and of course my absolute favorite, y’all. I was watching the Andy Griffith show all weekend and the way they spoke is very much the vernacular I grew up hearing. I wish I could sit and jaw awhile but I got to skedaddle. I really miss hearing the dulcet tones of a southern accents telling me if I don’t get my behind in the house before dark I’d get my hide tanned right and proper.
I often think about the language I grew up hearing and how it has shaped my love of words, there are so many ways of saying the same thing. You can say it in a colorful way or you can say it in a mundane way. I prefer the former, I used to love listening to my grandpa tell stories, he told them so fully and colorfully that until I started school I thought he actually knew General George Washington.
If you did not grow up with a southern background, I would love to know some of the colloquialisms you grew up with, please feel free to comment. Also, if there is anyone out there that has something they would like to say to me privately, please feel free to email me at angie@angieworld.com.
Yesterday we had a birthday party for Tessa’s birthday, her actual birthday is today, she is 5 years old. I got her a Fancy Nancy outfit, doll and book, she got tons of littlest pet shop things, Barbies and a couple of scooters. This was just our side of the family, of course Jeffrey, Elizabeth Anne, Freddy, Alex, Tessa’s Grammy and Grandpa (my ex and his wife) and myself. The Irishman had to work, so he missed the festivities, I know he hated that he missed them. I was in charge of the cake, it was a pink, princess Barbie dream cake, just adorable in its sparkly pinkness.
It was the perfect finale on the weekend, I hope everyone has a pink sparkly week ahead of them

Favors, Eating Dog and Birthday Celebration

Yesterday I went to my B.B.F.F.’s home to do him a favor, now mind you he had bribed me into doing said favor. Bribed me with my own belongings I might add, yes, I am easily bribed, you see he had, what I like to refer to as, the Joss Whedon collection. He had Buffy, Angel and Firefly DVD’s, so off I went to complete said favor. When I get to the location I see that Firefly is missing, I send a quick text asking if he was trying to steal part of my Whedon collection. He says, isn’t that mine? I said um no. He then says oh that’s right, I bought Serenity and Firefly belongs to you.
So I ask why he is trying to steal Nathan Fillion, he takes a while to answer, when he does he claims it is Jewel Staite and Morena Baccarin he was in fact trying to steal. I would like to take a moment and point out that on Monday nights when Castle is new, I get text messages extolling the great talents of Nathan Fillion. That’s all.
On Twitter yesterday I had something interesting happen, I saw a tweet from @MrsScottBaio, she was answering someone who had blasted her for carrying a purse made of leather. I said that God put animals here for us to eat and utilize their skin. The crazy person, not Scott Baio’s wife, then sent me a tweet saying it was like wearing and eating my dog. Seriously? You are comparing beef to dog? Chicken to dog? Pork to dog? I don’t know where these people come from, such extremist, I don’t care that you don’t eat meat, don’t wear leather, why do you feel the need to put me down? Do you think such tactics will work, oh some rabid nut in Australia says I shouldn’t wear leather or eat meat, let me change my ways, she must be right. What the heck?
I will continue to carry my leather Coach purse (thank you Elizabeth Anne) and I will continue to wear leather shoes, I will continue to eat meat, poultry, fish and dairy. I firmly believe God put these animals on earth to sustain human life, a good balanced meal is important for your body that includes vegetable, grains and yes meat.
This morning got to have coffee with the Irishman, very pleasant indeed, we discussed news stories and movies. Just a pleasant way to start the morning, I like my mornings to start out pleasant, I believe that tells me how the day is going to go. It is Friday, it is the weekend of Tessa’s birthday, I am so excited to give her the presents that I have for her. She is such an amazing little girl, I feel so blessed I get to be her Gigi.

Productivity

I have just finished re-reading a book that I have read once a year every year for the past 15 years. It is The Eight by Katherine Neville, it is a book that combines mysticism, Fibonacci numbers, chess and intrigue all rolled together with high adventure. When I read it, I can actually feel the hot sand of the Algiers, the intrigue of Egypt and I can feel the boat swaying under me as the heroine of the story solves the mystery and saves lives. It is a great read and I highly recommend it. Well written, not like the popular trash that passes as literature today. Please tell me that you all have stopped buying that drivel, the waste of perfectly good trees, Shades of Grey nonsense. Just step back and buy something that was not written at a 3rd grade level, a pornographic 3rd grade level. Disturbing that this is a best seller.
Anyway, I have accomplished a lot in these past two days, the laundry is actually all caught up and it was clean sheet Saturday. All in all a good, productive day, I also had a great conversation with Thomas Alexander. Then later in the evening a call from Elizabeth Anne, consider my day complete.
Then the Irishman comes home and we watch Horrible Bosses together, that is a good ending to the day.
I am still working on my 4th of July homage to this great, amazing country, it is my fervent wish that we can keep it great long enough to elect a new leader. I don’t know how political I will get on here as election time nears. However those that know me, know that I am a political creature by nature, I just don’t like doing it here.
I have had great Starbucks coffee this morning, here at my humble abode, I even made a terrific, low-fat, unsweetened mocha frappicino. Yay me!

Zumba Related News

Welcome to Friday everyone! I feel it is going to be a good day, the Irishman is chatty this morning which means he is getting better. I have had almost a whole pot of coffee which means I am doing very well.
Zumba was last night and it was the last workout with my friend Kay, we will be on different schedules starting Monday. It was a great time and if we are ever on the same schedule again I know we will be workout buddies again.
Let’s discuss Zumba, shall we, Elizabeth Anne told me she bought Zumba for the Wii, she got because she thought since I do it, then it would be a piece of cake for her. Ha! She found out, it is a workout and a half. I finally figured out why I enjoy it so much, for an hour I get to feel like a Latin goddess, in my head I am just doing exactly what the instructor does. I try not to look in the mirror, for it tells me a completely different story. I will continue with my Zumba and I am hoping to add a body sculpting class as it starts an hour before my Zumba and with the new schedule I will get off in time to take it.
Well I am signing off early today as I do believe it is a Starbucks day, I will be getting my Passion Tea Lemonade, unsweetened of course and perhaps splurge with a fruit cup.
Happy Friday everyone, I hope you have a terrific day and a terrific weekend.
