Fun in the Sun

Yesterday was a really great day, it started early, I went and picked up Tessa at 6:30 AM, very early for me on my day off. I also dropped off a chicken casserole for my boys, Jeffrey and Alex, really for Alex because he loves this particular casserole so much. Then whisked Tessa off for a fun-filled day with Lauren and Carolion. She loves being with the Irishman’s girls so much, she cries when she leaves them. Yesterday was fun in the sun day, we went to Surf and Swim in Garland, TX, it was a lot of fun. I highly recommend this place for people with younger children, all it has is a wave pool and a play area for smaller children. No slides or anything like that, so if you are a lone adult with a few children under the age of 12, go here for water fun. You can keep an eye on everyone and it is inexpensive for the day. I got a deal on Groupon for $12.00 for 4 people, seriously can’t beat that. We arrived when they opened at 10:30 and stayed till 2:30, definitely got out moneys worth out of the trip.
Well, it looks as if I am going to have to change the way I buy food, no more willy nilly buying bread and things, will have to look for Gluten free food for the Irishman. It will take some effort but I am sure he can persevere and get healthy.
I am in serious need of a good nights sleep, I think I will achieve that goal tomorrow night, I plan on sleeping hard and good all night long.
Today is my second Monday and tomorrow is real Friday, so yay! I hope everyone has a great day today, enjoy the air conditioning.

Who I am

When I read that adults are finally figuring out who they are, I am confused, I think what the hell. I have always known who I am, what I believe in and where I am going, sometimes I take the long way around, but I always get there. If you are in your 30’s, 40’s and 50’s still searching for who you are, you will never know. We are who we are from birth, it is not too hard to look inside yourself and figure it out. If you are a lying whore, you will always be a lying whore. if you are someone who tells the truth no matter what, that is who you will always be.
I have always known who I am, I am Angie, I tell the truth, if I don’t like you I will ignore you, if I believe you are doing something wrong I will call you on it. If you harm me in some way I will find a way to get even, don’t doubt it. Your time is coming, you wont see it coming, it will be as much as a surprise to you as what you did to me was. God help you, because I am merciless.
In other news I took the Irishman to yet another doctor yesterday, he has to have more testing done, however they are on the road to actually figuring out what is wrong with him. Which is good.
I will be taking 3 little girls to a water park today, please pray for me, I need energy, I foresee a giant vitamin B12 in my future. Also a ton of coffee has been consumed already and more is being infused into my blood stream as I type.
As I said I know who I am, a coffee addict, a loyal friend, a keeper of secrets, a mom, a Christian and someone who firmly believes in old testament vengeance. Not necessarily in that order.

Expectations

Expectations. We all have them, we have expectations with ourselves, with the people that are in our lives, with the goods and services we purchase. What would life be like without expectations. I have always been taught that what we expect out of people we will receive, this is not always true, sometimes you get nasty surprises when you have expected nothing but the best. Sometimes in life your expectations do not match reality, it is what happens after the the expectation has been burst that matters most.
When you have been let down, do you give up, do damage control or do you get to work to let whatever, or whomever has not lived up to your expectations know that is not acceptable. Do you continue to stay and work on something that has not met with your expectations? Well that is the million dollar question, and I have no million dollar answers for you, I am still seeking those answers for myself.
I will tell you this, I have had very few people in my life that have met my expectations of them, sad really. When my expectations were so simple, I will not list them, just know that I am the fight or flight type of person and am still trying to figure out which one I want to do at times.
My weekend was uneventful, Costco, taking the Irishman’s daughters swimming two days in a row, Target and dinner in. I really wanted some Taco Bueno, maybe the next time Elizabeth Anne comes to town we can get some. I have a nice redness going on with my arms and face, legs will not get color. I do believe that the sun rays bounce off of their whiteness and land somewhere back in the ether. They refuse to take any kind of pigment, so sunless tanning lotion it is for them.
I shall leave you with your deep thoughts on expectations today, I would love to know your thoughts, angie@angieworld.com is the place to send them. Toodles.

Friday the 13th

Yesterday morning I had the scariest experience I have had in a long time at work, I came in, was putting my things down and I heard a noise behind me. I turn, I look down, there it is, a giant hissing water bug, it starts running toward me. I do the only thing I can do, I scream, I kick at it and knock it back to my coworkers desk, it flips several times. Then when the thing gets its bearings, its wings go out, and it hisses and runs at me, I scream again and this time, yes, this time folks I take its life. I had no other option, it was attacking, it was in self defense. The thing was three inches long and one inch in diameter.
I would like to take this time to point out this is what happens when there is no winter, we have massive bugs. I am fine, a little traumatized, but fine. However due to my experiences and the week I have had, I deserve a treat and have a Starbucks. I am still angry with them, but I can’t quit them, I got nowhere else to go. Not really, I have options, just couldn’t resist the Officer and a Gentleman reference.
Well, last night was Dean Cain’s episode of the Choice, in case you are wondering I did not watch I am still so angry with him. I know this disagreement we have had will pass, he is still number one on my list, however, with this latest stunt, Chris Hemsworth is creeping up on you Dean. Unless you can quickly redeem yourself, you may find yourself replaced on my infamous list.
Yesterday was Alex’s birthday, I cannot believe my youngest child is 21 years old; it doesn’t seem that long ago when he was waking up in his crib full of sunshine and goodness. I love you son, you are one of the top three best things that ever happened to me.
Today is Friday the 13th that has always been a good luck day in my family; everyone should have a good luck day. Find one and adopt it, this one is mine; I will share if you want it though. I hope everyone has a great day, a fantastic weekend, and a great month.

Jumpstreet Goodness

Here it is, another Monday for me, I admit I am worn out, yesterday was equal parts stressful, exciting and fun. It was back to the doctor for the Irishman in the AM, still have no definitive answers, but hopefully soon. Then it was taking three little girls for a lunch at McDonalds then on to Jumpstreet, a new place for us.

Jumpstreet has trampolines built-in the floor of the establishment, it was the best money I have ever spent. I have never seen three little girls more exuberant in their pursuit of happiness. The ran, they jumped, they bounced, they swung into a pit of foam squares, two of them rode a mechanical bull. We went into a maze, they slid down the big slide, which made my stomach hurt to watch, they played on a giant alligator. All in all a very successful outing, next Wednesday will be at the water park. That should be an experience in itself.

Did I mention the purple pancakes for breakfast? Those were interesting, not enough red food coloring to make the red Tess wanted, not enough blue to make real blue, so in the batter they both went.

Tess did not want to go when her mom came to pick her up, she was having too much fun, she was also incredibly tired. I think the day wore her out as well, all of the good old-fashioned fun left her drained. I am guessing she was asleep before they hit the highway.
Today it is back to work for me, maybe a trip to Starbucks, I don’t know, I am still angry with them so we shall see.
Oh, once again, for anyone who has something to say to me, angie@angieworld.com is a good place to send those emails.

Anger at Starbucks

Yesterday not as bad as what the news sources predicted, as a matter of fact I only know of one person in our office who got a call about the DNS outage. Not too shabby.
Today is my Friday, I am so happy, last week was tough working 5 days in a row, I don’t think I can go back to that. I think I need to stay with the 4 days a week, I seriously don’t notice that the days are 10 hours in length. Maybe because I am getting off at a decent hour, not 11pm at night. I could not do that, I would be asleep under my desk by 10 pm, not good at all. So I will stick with morning start times as long as it is an option for me.
Tessa is coming to spend the night tonight, she is eager to see the Irishman’s girls, she adores them and they have been gone. I promised her as soon as they got back she could come and see them.
Has anyone ever been to a psychic? I want to go and have someone tell me what my future is, that way I can avoid all mistakes. I will know where I am going and how long the journey will be, ok I already know the last part. I don’t think I would like to talk to one of those people that can talk to dead people. That would freak me out, I want to know that my loved ones are in heaven having a great time, not watching what goes on down here. For the most part I think it would make them sad, seeing all of the heartache and the mistakes that we make. I also do not want to think of myself as staying here, I want to know that there is something so amazing on the other side of life. A place where I can eat all of the chocolate I want to without the pesky weight concerns, where there is a Starbucks on every corner, oh wait that part is here, ok, where there is free Starbucks on every corner.
Oh speaking of Starbucks, I am angry with them, I have not gotten the last two free drinks I have earned. I have not received my cards, that is not right, I earned those drinks. I buy a lot from you Starbucks, why have you forsaken me in my time of caffeine need? I don’t understand, we had such a great relationship, we had an understanding. I give you money, you give me caffeine filled coffee treats. I buy so many I get a freebie, it has worked well all this time and now you have abandoned me. I am saddened by this disloyalty and complete disregard for my fragile emotional state. When it comes to you Starbucks I am completely loyal, I could go to the McDonald’s across the way, get coffee, they have a mighty fine cup of Joe over there. But no, I stay loyal, I am just asking for you to stay loyal to me in return.

Language

I was thinking about colloquialisms, the ones I grew up with and the ones I still use today, as everyone knows I grew up in Oklahoma, however the speech patterns I was surrounded by were pure Southern. Fixin to, I’ll be there directly, let’s go over yonder and of course my absolute favorite, y’all. I was watching the Andy Griffith show all weekend and the way they spoke is very much the vernacular I grew up hearing. I wish I could sit and jaw awhile but I got to skedaddle. I really miss hearing the dulcet tones of a southern accents telling me if I don’t get my behind in the house before dark I’d get my hide tanned right and proper.
I often think about the language I grew up hearing and how it has shaped my love of words, there are so many ways of saying the same thing. You can say it in a colorful way or you can say it in a mundane way. I prefer the former, I used to love listening to my grandpa tell stories, he told them so fully and colorfully that until I started school I thought he actually knew General George Washington.
If you did not grow up with a southern background, I would love to know some of the colloquialisms you grew up with, please feel free to comment. Also, if there is anyone out there that has something they would like to say to me privately, please feel free to email me at angie@angieworld.com.
Yesterday we had a birthday party for Tessa’s birthday, her actual birthday is today, she is 5 years old. I got her a Fancy Nancy outfit, doll and book, she got tons of littlest pet shop things, Barbies and a couple of scooters. This was just our side of the family, of course Jeffrey, Elizabeth Anne, Freddy, Alex, Tessa’s Grammy and Grandpa (my ex and his wife) and myself. The Irishman had to work, so he missed the festivities, I know he hated that he missed them. I was in charge of the cake, it was a pink, princess Barbie dream cake, just adorable in its sparkly pinkness.
It was the perfect finale on the weekend, I hope everyone has a pink sparkly week ahead of them

Friday Amazement

So much to write about so little time, let’s start with Friday at the team huddle, where it was decided that my blog should be read. It was regarding the mini tacos from 7-Eleven, still think they are amazing, a party in one’s mouth. So, Victoria starts reading out loud, I thought the topic was mundane enough, wow, was I wrong. My boring words said aloud by Victoria, well, let’s just say that if I ever decide to record my words, she will be the one reading them. She made them sound sexy, I didn’t think that possible, but she did, so, the job is hers if I ever decide to do a podcast.
Jeffrey called me on Friday after work and asked if I would pick up the cake for Tessa’s birthday celebration. Of course I readily agreed, I called Kroger and they are concocting a pink Barbie dream cake, I can hardly wait to pick it up today.
The Irishman is not getting past this illness he has, I do believe it is time to go back to the doctor and figure this thing out once and for all. This is the craziest thing I have ever seen, I hope it is taken care of soon. They figure out what it is and cure him, not fun seeing someone you love being ill.
There are times I wish I were a gourmet chef, I love food so much, however I know if I could really cook, I would be at least 800 pounds. Such a dilemma, I am thinking I might go to Costco this week and see if they have any peaches. Those peaches were so amazing, I might even break diet rules and get some chocolate fudge and pour over them. OMG, the best thing I have ever had in my mouth are chocolate covered peaches. My friend Terri introduced me to them years ago, when I saw her slicing the fresh peaches and then pouring chocolate over them I thought she was nuts. I told her that, are you insane I said, she said, Angie, no, try them. I did and was instantly hooked, so amazing, the chocolatey goodness combined with the sweet juicy peach was just a revelation.
Today is the birthday celebration for Tessa, I am sure it will be wonderful. See you all tomorrow with full details, maybe a picture of the cake.

Favors, Eating Dog and Birthday Celebration

Yesterday I went to my B.B.F.F.’s home to do him a favor, now mind you he had bribed me into doing said favor. Bribed me with my own belongings I might add, yes, I am easily bribed, you see he had, what I like to refer to as, the Joss Whedon collection. He had Buffy, Angel and Firefly DVD’s, so off I went to complete said favor. When I get to the location I see that Firefly is missing, I send a quick text asking if he was trying to steal part of my Whedon collection. He says, isn’t that mine? I said um no. He then says oh that’s right, I bought Serenity and Firefly belongs to you.
So I ask why he is trying to steal Nathan Fillion, he takes a while to answer, when he does he claims it is Jewel Staite and Morena Baccarin he was in fact trying to steal. I would like to take a moment and point out that on Monday nights when Castle is new, I get text messages extolling the great talents of Nathan Fillion. That’s all.
On Twitter yesterday I had something interesting happen, I saw a tweet from @MrsScottBaio, she was answering someone who had blasted her for carrying a purse made of leather. I said that God put animals here for us to eat and utilize their skin. The crazy person, not Scott Baio’s wife, then sent me a tweet saying it was like wearing and eating my dog. Seriously? You are comparing beef to dog? Chicken to dog? Pork to dog? I don’t know where these people come from, such extremist, I don’t care that you don’t eat meat, don’t wear leather, why do you feel the need to put me down? Do you think such tactics will work, oh some rabid nut in Australia says I shouldn’t wear leather or eat meat, let me change my ways, she must be right. What the heck?
I will continue to carry my leather Coach purse (thank you Elizabeth Anne) and I will continue to wear leather shoes, I will continue to eat meat, poultry, fish and dairy. I firmly believe God put these animals on earth to sustain human life, a good balanced meal is important for your body that includes vegetable, grains and yes meat.
This morning got to have coffee with the Irishman, very pleasant indeed, we discussed news stories and movies. Just a pleasant way to start the morning, I like my mornings to start out pleasant, I believe that tells me how the day is going to go. It is Friday, it is the weekend of Tessa’s birthday, I am so excited to give her the presents that I have for her. She is such an amazing little girl, I feel so blessed I get to be her Gigi.

Party in my Mouth

Yesterday, at work, my co-worker Kay brought a surprise with her when she came in, she began passing out her surprise to Kissa and myself. They were mini tacos that she had gotten at 7-Eleven, I said what is this, not very trusting of food from 7-Eleven. She said take a bite. I did, and I thought I was going to die right there, it was so amazing, my first thought was I am going to marry this mini taco. The shell was crunchy and the meat was tender shredded beef, the seasoning was perfection. It was like a party in my mouth, I never wanted it to end, now I find myself facing another food addiction. It was an incredibly pleasant experience, if you have the opportunity to stop by the 7-Eleven, try the mini tacos, they are on special for .25, I do not know how long that special will last for.
Yesterday was the 4th of July, I worked, it was crazy, I had some of the craziest calls I have ever had. I have been there a long time, and when I tell you I have had some crazy calls, please believe me. But yesterday was just off the meter crazy, a man called in, said that he was being harassed on his X-Box 360 and demanded to know what I was going to do about that. I admit I stared at the phone for a minute, then asked if he could clarify, he proceeded to tell me that when he was online he was getting harassing messages, with the person telling him that they know where he lives. I explained this was a case for the police, not our company and directed him to call them. He then went on to ask if we could change his IP address every 20 seconds, explained no we could not, there was no way for us to do that. He then told me he paid $600.00 for his system and was having a hard time making ends meet, once again I didn’t know what to say to that. The real kicker was that he was married with a child and told me he plays this thing every night all night. Seriously, you are a grown man with a wife and child, go to bed.
Had a very pleasant surprise yesterday evening, Alex came by to wish me a happy 4th of July, as I never see anyone on the 4th it was a very pleasant surprise indeed. What a great ending to a strange day.
I hope everyone had a great 4th and whatever you did was good.
