Wild Weekend

Monday morning is upon us, and it is truly a Monday for me,no pseudo Thursday, tomorrow is not Friday, my new Friday will be Thursday and I only have one a week now, however I will have three days off in a row. Still spoiled. I am hoping to make some day trips to Oklahoma this fall to see my cousins, very excited about that. I will have to check with them to see if they want my company.
Well this weekend was spent really kinda lazily, Saturday I went errand running with a friend, then lunch at Mi Cocina, which I love and had not been in a while.
It was so nice we sat on the patio, I became fascinated with the fish and ducks in the little pond, I fed them almost all of our chips. Part of the main meal as well, it was just so fascinating to watch them all converge upon the offering, then to almost fight over it. It was like my very own Hunger Games happening right there.
Sunday was very lazy, I should have done laundry, I did not, instead Alex came over and we spent several hours debating politics, religion and a host of other subjects. Completely enjoyable! I love that, I have such a different relationship with each of my children, Jeffrey and I agree on almost every subject, Alex and I disagree on a lot, Elizabeth couldn’t give two cents worth for politics or religion, we shop and talk of other things.
Another happening is I have begun using the new Mary Kay TimeWise Repair skin care system, it is amazing! I am already loving it, I credit Mary Kay and good genetics for my youthful appearance, I have been using Mary Kay since Elizabeth Anne was 6 months old and she is 23 now, I do not look my age at all. So, run ladies, don’t walk, and get this fabulous new product.
Well that is all I have for now, completely tired from my do nothing weekend, will be going in to work and helping all the people. Call us for tech support! We are there to help!

Language

I was thinking about colloquialisms, the ones I grew up with and the ones I still use today, as everyone knows I grew up in Oklahoma, however the speech patterns I was surrounded by were pure Southern. Fixin to, I’ll be there directly, let’s go over yonder and of course my absolute favorite, y’all. I was watching the Andy Griffith show all weekend and the way they spoke is very much the vernacular I grew up hearing. I wish I could sit and jaw awhile but I got to skedaddle. I really miss hearing the dulcet tones of a southern accents telling me if I don’t get my behind in the house before dark I’d get my hide tanned right and proper.
I often think about the language I grew up hearing and how it has shaped my love of words, there are so many ways of saying the same thing. You can say it in a colorful way or you can say it in a mundane way. I prefer the former, I used to love listening to my grandpa tell stories, he told them so fully and colorfully that until I started school I thought he actually knew General George Washington.
If you did not grow up with a southern background, I would love to know some of the colloquialisms you grew up with, please feel free to comment. Also, if there is anyone out there that has something they would like to say to me privately, please feel free to email me at angie@angieworld.com.
Yesterday we had a birthday party for Tessa’s birthday, her actual birthday is today, she is 5 years old. I got her a Fancy Nancy outfit, doll and book, she got tons of littlest pet shop things, Barbies and a couple of scooters. This was just our side of the family, of course Jeffrey, Elizabeth Anne, Freddy, Alex, Tessa’s Grammy and Grandpa (my ex and his wife) and myself. The Irishman had to work, so he missed the festivities, I know he hated that he missed them. I was in charge of the cake, it was a pink, princess Barbie dream cake, just adorable in its sparkly pinkness.
It was the perfect finale on the weekend, I hope everyone has a pink sparkly week ahead of them

Friday Amazement

So much to write about so little time, let’s start with Friday at the team huddle, where it was decided that my blog should be read. It was regarding the mini tacos from 7-Eleven, still think they are amazing, a party in one’s mouth. So, Victoria starts reading out loud, I thought the topic was mundane enough, wow, was I wrong. My boring words said aloud by Victoria, well, let’s just say that if I ever decide to record my words, she will be the one reading them. She made them sound sexy, I didn’t think that possible, but she did, so, the job is hers if I ever decide to do a podcast.
Jeffrey called me on Friday after work and asked if I would pick up the cake for Tessa’s birthday celebration. Of course I readily agreed, I called Kroger and they are concocting a pink Barbie dream cake, I can hardly wait to pick it up today.
The Irishman is not getting past this illness he has, I do believe it is time to go back to the doctor and figure this thing out once and for all. This is the craziest thing I have ever seen, I hope it is taken care of soon. They figure out what it is and cure him, not fun seeing someone you love being ill.
There are times I wish I were a gourmet chef, I love food so much, however I know if I could really cook, I would be at least 800 pounds. Such a dilemma, I am thinking I might go to Costco this week and see if they have any peaches. Those peaches were so amazing, I might even break diet rules and get some chocolate fudge and pour over them. OMG, the best thing I have ever had in my mouth are chocolate covered peaches. My friend Terri introduced me to them years ago, when I saw her slicing the fresh peaches and then pouring chocolate over them I thought she was nuts. I told her that, are you insane I said, she said, Angie, no, try them. I did and was instantly hooked, so amazing, the chocolatey goodness combined with the sweet juicy peach was just a revelation.
Today is the birthday celebration for Tessa, I am sure it will be wonderful. See you all tomorrow with full details, maybe a picture of the cake.

Late Day and Weird Dreams

Well, this is a late post, I am writing on my first break at work, you see my alarm clock did not, well, sound the alarm. In fact my alarm was turned off, I have no memory of doing that, crazy. So I woke up at 5:03, when I usually wake up at 4:00, I was over an hour late. Thank goodness I have my coffeemaker programmed and had done the prep work the night before. I jumped in the shower, hair in a ponytail, makeup on, coffee in a to go container.
But I made it! I was here not only on time but 3 minutes early, thrilled with that!
I had a horrible dream last night, woke up angry with the Irishman for what he did in my dream. I may stay that way all day, don’t know yet. Will keep you updated. Also in the dream, my friend Kat and I were walking Nocona, and we met another friend of ours, and we look down and she is walking a prehistoric beast. And her feet were claws, not like cat claws, which would have been kinda cool. But more like bird talons, it was weird, so now I am wondering if the dream has any meaning. Or if I am just going insane, that is a totally viable option in my world.
We are having a celebration at work today, our supervisor is going to cook out, we voted for burgers and we all pitched in funds to get the food. It should be a fun-filled day.
Spoke to Jeffrey yesterday, we will be celebrating Tessa’s birthday on Sunday, her actual birthday is Monday. She will be 5 years old, I am so amazed at how the time has flown. I remember when she was born, she is growing so fast, and her personality is so amazing, she is smart and funny and completely gorgeous.
I will sign off for now, I hope everyone has a fantastic Tuesday.

Buffy, Coffee and Stuff

I’m sitting here drinking my coffee, watching Buffy, and contemplating my week, trying also to wake up. Sunday nights/Monday mornings are always a little tough, I go to sleep too late and have to wake up way too early. It is made better with my coffee, I did come to the conclusion the Irishman was correct, it was the brand of coffee that was making my stomach hurt so bad.
I don’t know what I would have done if it were actually coffee hurting me, that would have been a calamity of epic proportions. Can you imagine me with no coffee? Me either, without coffee is there even a me? Heady question for such an early morning.
This weekend was full, well Friday night and Saturday were, it was spent with Tessa, se is absolutely amazing. She was waiting for me when I got home on Friday, when we came inside she said Gigi, I miss Chewie, I said yeah me too. She looked at me and said I don’t think you should get another dog Gigi, you’re not ready. Wow, out of the mouths of babes. She is right of course, I don’t think I will ever be ready for another dog, Chewie was a once in a lifetime kind of companion, I feel honored to have gotten to be part of his life.
Saturday was filled with green pancakes and swimming, so much fun playing in the pool with Tess, she makes me young. After her dad, Jeffrey, came and picked her up, I collapsed in a heap of sheer exhaustion. There is a reason I had my children in my youth, I had energy, I took an incredible nap and then did nothing.
Sunday was spent doing nothing as well, I did a lot of nothing this weekend, and I am not afraid to admit it.
I do want to say watching the verdict being announced in the Sandusky case evoked emotions of relief for the victims of this horrendous man. Throughout the trial he seemed at times smug and others jovial, always a smile on his face. A smile. He devastated young boys lives, and he sat there smiling, his wife saying oh that never happened. I never heard anything. Didn’t she think it odd that he went into the basement with young boys? I would have. I hope the victims of this monster can rest a little easier at night knowing that their bravery helped stop his actions. They have saved future boys from this monsters hands, I pray for their peace of mind.
On a lighter note, I have a slight sunburn, I slathered myself in Hawaiian Tropic oil to try and get some color onto my incredibly white skin. I think the burn will turn brown, then I wont be so pale, would be nice if I had some color for summer.

Weekend Update

There was a lot happening this weekend, it all started Friday evening, meeting with Paulina for my Susan G Komen volunteer assignment. I was to be a race monitor, that meant I would have a golf cart, very excited about that, and yes, it was as fun as I thought it was going to be. We met with Sergeant Spears of the Plano police department and she gave us the 411.
Saturday I was at the site at 6:00 a.m., yes, very early on a Saturday, picked up my volunteers and carted them off to their assignments. We had Parkwood; I dropped my people off at the barricades, with instructions not to let anyone in a car onto the race side of the street. I got to drive up and down making sure it was all going ok and there were no issues. I had one mother and daughter team that I dropped off, gave them their instructions and left. I drove back by; they were laying out on the road. I thought surely that is not them getting a tan, or perhaps they thought I meant for them to be human speed bumps, or maybe they had passed out from heat stroke. I stopped asked it all was well and they very happily informed me that they were great. Drove by again, they had moved on to petting a puppy on the opposite side of the barricade. I thought Lord don’t let anyone offer these two some candy, drove back by, they were gone. So if anyone knows what happened to these two, please let me know.
After the volunteer gig, I went to visit Jeffrey and Tessa, great visit, so much fun, I just adore that girl. I cannot believe she will be going to kindergarten in the fall. It just doesn’t seem possible, I remember the day she was born, she has owned my heart since that day.
When the Irishman came home Saturday evening, he said so are you going with me tomorrow? I said what is tomorrow? He looked at me and said I have asked you no less than three times to go with me to see Ireland play in the European playoffs. Of course this was foreign talk to me, however, one thing I understood quite well. Pride. Pride in the place you come from, he was immensely proud that his home country had made it this far in the competition. So I said yes, I would go with him, I am glad I did, it meant a lot to him that I was there with him. The look in his eyes when his team took the field, was very moving, I got a little misty eyed for him. His team did not win, but it was amazing that they had gotten so far to begin with.
That is the end of my exciting, fun filled weekend. Next up, family reunion, I can hardly wait!

Coffee Monday

So today is Monday, I have to admit I stayed up way to late watching TV, but come on, how on earth does anyone expect me to miss the Real Housewives of New Jersey and Watch What Happens Live! I mean seriously, Rosie was on WWHL, no way was I missing that! I love Rosie, she just rocks. Last nights episode of RHONJ did not disappoint, it was filled with laughter, tears and drama. However it wasn’t really Teresa that brought the drama it was Gia, or as Andy say, G to the IA, she really is hitting the tween years hard. My heart goes out to Teresa, she has to do this 4 times, I hope at least one of the girls is even tempered, however being Italian and Jersey, she is in for some rocky times.

Teresa also lied last night to make her brother look bad, saying he had not reached out to her when indeed he did. Once again Joe Guidice proves he is just a horrible human being saying the worst things about Teresa’s family one could say and on camera. On one had you can understand his frustration as his wife tells him everything and of course slants it to make herself look good (as we all do as humans) and he is fed up with hearing all of this. It does make one wonder, Teresa tells her husband everything; however she expects her brother to keep secrets from his wife. Interesting, I would think she would understand that, I hope she is getting the point of all of that. Watching these shows cannot be easy for her, she was always one of my favorites and I still root for her, I want things to work out for her and her adorable little girls.

So, on to me, Saturday was a Ladies that Lunch happening, it was wonderful as usual, one woman came that is a rare attendee, it was so wonderful seeing her, she always adds fun and laughter to any event she joins us for, so happy to see Charlotte. The food was amazing, we went to one of the Chocolate Angel restaurants, their food is just wonderful, I ate too much. Then it was seeing Jeffrey, I always love seeing any of my children, now that they are grown I don’t get to see them every day and I miss them. However I love seeing them independent and self sufficient, although sometimes they still need their mother. As in looking after their animals when they go out of time, then I get to be useful! Love it!

I am loving my schedule, however next time I am thinking of doing the straight 4 x 10’s and having 3 days in a row off. I am thinking towards Christmas, I could get so much done with those three days off, without having to take any vacation time, so there we have it. I will be doing the straight 4 x 10’s next time, having Friday through Sunday off. Well I am going to sign off now and drink my coffee, I need it today, the housewives wore me out!

Terrific Thursday

Today is Monday/Thursday, yesterday was a mini weekend, and it was good, so strange being off in the middle of the week without taking a vacation day. I think I am going to like this. I went to Bonham and saw Jeffrey and Elizabeth Anne yesterday, so nice, and came home and got caught up on laundry. Oh and it was clean sheet day, wow, it just could not have gotten any better!
Tuesday’s Zumba just about killed me, that instructor was a beast, in a really good way, going back for more today. I think my body is changing due to the zumba dancing, I feel different in my clothes, like they fit different. I am loving it!
I am very excited to go back today and be tortured all over again, I know I am going to sleep well tonight! Just one more week until my huge Avengers event, I am so way beyond excited about this. I have seriously never done anything this geeky in my entire life and it feels good. Ok, dressing up as Wonder Woman, that was pretty geeky, no wait, that was just cool. Yup, still nothing as geeky as next week will be.
I hope everyone has a great, geeky Thursday!

Happy Psuedo Friday!

Well I did it, I survived my first 10 hour day, with overtime, all is well! Today is Zumba as well as Friday I am so excited,
Tomorrow will be spent going to Bonham, going to see Jeffrey, the air is not working in my car, and it is intermittent! Ugh, the problems of being a customer with an intermittent issue, I can only hope it is acting up tomorrow.
I wanted to get my hair done, I am really wanting a change in color, something lighter for summer months. Not blond, but some highlights, maybe lowlights, I don’t know, I need a decision maker in my life for hair issues. Any volunteers? And please only serious suggestions!
I like the quiet of early morning risings, the house is still, the coffee is on, the internet is working perfectly, what more could anyone ask for. Nothing I believe, not a darn thing. Oh wait, maybe a butler names Jeeves to bring me said coffee, silently, always knowing when I need a refill. Oh a robot butler, that would be even better, I love it, someone invent that for me.
Well, since today is Friday, I do believe I deserve a Starbucks treat, so the Starbucks at Custer and Parker is it for me. I think I have told you all before this is my favorite Starbucks, even early morning the workers are friendly and professional and speedy. Love them, huge shout out to my favorite Starbucks! Everyone in Plano go in and tell them you saw them on angieworld.
Speaking of Starbucks, if you are a Costco member you can use your $5.00 off a bag of Starbucks coffee beans through May 12th I believe. That makes it very affordable, I have already gotten mine, these coupons for the Starbucks coffee do not come around very often! Take advantage folks. That will be all for the advertisements today, it is off to get dressed for the day for this woman. I do believe it is a Lucky jeans day paired with a BCBG top and Madden Girl cork wedges. I hope everyone has a fabulous day, I know I intend to!

Icy Morning

This weekend was filled with good and bad, first up, the good. Friday night was dinner with good friends. So good seeing Bill and Linda, meeting Ashley’s boyfriend and seeing Nicholas. We closed down Abuelos! Total greatness, can’t wait to do it again.
Then Saturday, the Susan G. Komen survivors luncheon, then time with Jeffrey and Tessa. I took the Irishman’s girls over to play with Tess, took them to McDonalds so they could run wild, then back to Jeffrey’s for more play time. They dug in the dirt, found a worm family and had a ton of fun.
Yesterday was not so fun, I was leaving to run some errands, the wind caught the front door and it slammed on my right thumb. I am right handed, it is incredibly hard doing anything at all. I slept with a baggie full of ice, that of course melted in the night, at 6am this morning, the bag must have unzipped, ice water everywhere in the bed. I have never ever seen the Irishman jump up that fast.
So happy Monday everyone, I hope you all had a gentler wakeup than I had!
