Next week is Thanksgiving, for most people it is a time for families to gather and celebrate, well, being thankful. Me, well, I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving, not out of any moral indignation on how our indigenous brethren were treated, or because Abraham Lincoln instituted the holiday. No I don’t celebrate out of habit, see when I got a divorce from the father of my children, we made the decision that they would go with him every Thanksgiving.
His family gets together every Thanksgiving, sometimes they go on cruises, or skiing, or just to another relative’s home. I never wanted them to miss that, so I gave away Thanksgiving for me, so they could feel like they were part of that side of the family. Don’t feel bad for me, I got Christmas Eve out of the deal, I believe I got the better end of that stick. The kids got both ends of the stick, they didn’t have to miss Thanksgiving with that side of their family and they got to have Christmas Eve with their mom, and Christmas Afternoon and Evening with their dad. It is what we call an all around win.
Back to Thanksgiving, before I came to the department I am in now, I stayed in my pajamas for four days, watching movies, reading books and eating puffy Cheetos to my hearts content. Now I work Thanksgiving Day and the day after, that makes me happy. Then I get to go home and read a book, watch TV and eat puffy Cheetos. Another all around win.
This weekend I will be alone, the Irishman is going out of town, so I will be spending the next three days in my pajamas, watching movies, television, reading books and not eating puffy Cheetos. Perhaps I will buy some Taco Bueno and it will be a perfect weekend.

Another One Bites the Dust

So, another high ranking man has been caught with pants down, literally, and the mistress appears crazy. Not hugely surprised, any woman who knowingly cheats on her husband and causes the breakdown of two households in my opinion is crazy. I believe by now you all know how I feel about women who do this, I abhor them.
What I find interesting is the comments section of the news articles online, regarding the wife, people are so harsh. They are saying since she is not as attractive as the mistress she deserved to be cheated on. Seriously? That is what people are taking from this? It’s ok to cheat on your wife if she has put on a few pounds since the wedding? Someone you have promised to love and cherish and protect? For 37 years? And this is what she deserved?
What does he deserve now that he has been caught? He has lost his high powered job, rightfully so as that job is dependent on his ability to be loyal. He has proven he is not a loyal person, if you cannot be loyal to your wife and your family, you will not be loyal to your country.
To the woman who set all this in motion by seeing yet another woman as a threat, I thank you; you have possibly saved the country from something much worse. You have allowed all of us to see you and him for the worthless, lying scum that you really are.
As for the wronged wife, I saw her picture, but then I saw so much more, I read about her accomplishments, her character and her loyalty. I saw beyond the physical, and saw someone who had been a loyal wife and mother for 37 years. She did not deserve this, no matter how others might perceive her physical flaws. No one, man or woman deserves disloyalty and pain of this kind.
I hate scandal of this kind, I feel so bad for the wronged party, how do you heal when it is so very public. It is one thing to go through this type of betrayal when you are just a regular person, but to go through it in the press. With every unflattering picture of the wronged party they can find, so people can criticize and pick apart the person that was innocent in all this. It is sad and wrong, the ones that should be vilified are the ones who perpetrated this travesty.
To the woman who did this, shame on you, I hope your family disowns you, I hope they kick you out; I hope your husband takes all of your money and the wife of the man you did this with sues you. I hope you are left destitute, and then maybe you can understand the kind of hurt you have inflicted.
To the man, I hope your wife kicks you out and you have to live on the streets like the animal you are. Shame on you, she stood by you for 37 years, that didn’t earn any kind of loyalty from you to her. I hope she shows you the same kind of care and concern you have shown the world you have for her.

I am a Star Trek loving nerd, I would rather read than go to a party, I could spend weeks in a museum, as a matter of fact the Dallas Museum of Art has a fantastic bed in it on display. I don’t know if they have a shower but I could totally live there.
I have all of the outward appearances of being a fashion icon, and I am, trust me I love my shoes and boots and clothes, but I love my books more. I know it is a horrifying admission; I hid my tendencies in high school, never coming out of the closet for fear of ridicule. Actually that last part is not true, I never let my geek flag fly in high school because there was no one there to equal my geekiness, I didn’t want anyone feeling less than me.
Now, as I grow older, I find I do not care who knows how truly nerdy I am, I still watch Star Trek, rally anything with the word star in it, Star Trek, Stargate (all of them) Star Wars, the Last Star Fighter, I think you are getting the gist of my viewing habits. I will read anything, almost anything, I refuse to read 50 Shades of Grey, hideous book, sets the literary world back, well, it doesn’t books written in the past were so good, this one just is a joke. Why are people reading this trash? I can’t even get past the grammatical errors to get to any of the “good” parts. And now, now, I read they are making a movie based on this insidious claptrap? How? Why? Pandering I tell you, that is all it is, the world is simply giving into anything lascivious in nature and forget good writing, forget a plot line, forget anything that makes sense.
I find myself more and more annoyed at a world that has forgotten the art of the written word, a turn of a phrase, simple grammar. Lose, loose, two different words, two different meanings, I do believe that people have forgotten that, I see it all the time. Let’s look at that word in a sentence, shall we. Paul will loose the bolt. Paul will lose the bolt. In one sentence he is loosening something and in the other he has lost something.
Sometimes I admit it takes every ounce of self control I have not to correct people on social media. I control myself because deep down I do not want to hurt anyone; however is it doing them any favors by allowing them to continue in the way? It is a gamble, some people might be appreciative, others might cuss you out, and it’s a tough call. I think I shall choose my battles; it is difficult though, when the errors are so blatant, my fingers go to the keyboard, they hover, then, that part of the brain that says, “Hold the phone” takes over and I back away and don’t say anything. I admit, I allow this to continue, I do believe with social media being so popular we are truly seeing how the school systems are failing our children, and colleges. I have seen college graduates make simple mistakes, people with more than just a Bachelor degree, scary.
It is truly horrifying in today’s society that the best seller is a book that is so poorly written a 2nd grader could have done it, and the classics are falling by the wayside. I am sad for our future society.

The Pursuit of Happiness?

There is something that has been on my mind a lot lately, and no, it isn’t Dean Cain, well, alright, it is, but not this time. This time I want to talk about how people bandy about the word happy. It all started with the hippies, do whatever makes you happy, whatever makes you feel good. I am going to tell you right now that is really no way to live, and I will tell you why I believe it is no way to live your life.
If I did whatever made me happy, I would sit around watching old episodes of All My Children and eating nothing but puffy cheetos and chocolate. Also throw in some Buffy, Angel, Dollhouse and Firefly and you have my complete happy experience. But wait, let’s add-on some Lois and Clark; the new Adventures of Superman and well you have just made my happiness meter go off the charts.
I do not do those things because I would end up being 800 pounds and after a while my brain would atrophy.
I do what is necessary, I hold down a full-time job, after all they don’t pay you to sit around looking for new pictures of Dean Cain on the internet. Oh, wait, is that a real job? I must check into that. I digress. I take care of a household, make sure the Irishman has his medicines and eats halfway decent and I shop. Now add radio personality, well, ok that makes me happy.
I would suggest everyone stop this notion that you have to be happy, pursue joy, peace, those are the things we should be pursuing. There are many things that give me great joy, helping someone fix their internet so they can talk to their family. That gives me joy, picking up my granddaughter every other Friday from school, gives me immense joy. Talking to my children, hearing that their lives are going well, gives me peace.
This week, your mission, if you so choose to accept it, will be to put aside the notion of happiness and instead understand what joy and peace are. Find things that make your soul peaceful, and gives you great joy. Understand that sometimes wanting the things that inspire happiness are a little selfish, perhaps if the rest of the world set aside doing things that make them happy and focus on others then the world might just improve a little.

Thankful List

I have totally missed saying something I am thankful for every day on Facebook, so I will say all thirty things here, now, buckle up:

1. I am thankful that I know a Gracious and Loving God that forgives my transgressions. I pray daily that I am able to forgive others.
2. I am thankful that I have the children that I have, I have seen other peoples and it’s not pleasant, so to my children, thank you for being simply amazing.
3. I am thankful that I have the friends that I do, I don’t know what I ever did to deserve any of you, but I am thankful you remain my friend.
4. I am thankful for my love of animals, I believe a love of our furry and feathered friends show real humanity.
5. I am thankful that I live in the middle of the country and am not on a coast that is hit by tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes and torrential storms.
6. I am thankful to live in a country that when those things do happen, all states send help to the people that were hard hit. We are a caring country that comes together no matter what our political believes to help our fellow man.
7. I am thankful to our men and women who serve in the military, you are simply the best of the best, you are the definition of who we are.
8. I am thankful for my job, major telecommunications corporation you literally saved my family from poverty. I will be forever grateful for the opportunities you have given me.
9. I am thankful for technology, as much as we all lament how it is isolating us, I do believe with the current natural disaster we can see how fantastically helpful it has been in keeping us all in the loop with opportunities to help.
10. I am thankful for a new beginning every morning.
11. I am thankful for Starbucks, you feed my addiction, you are always there for me, and I love you.
12. I am thankful I have a roof over my head.
13. I am thankful I have a car to drive
14. I am thankful I can afford whatever I want to eat, I have choices
15. I am thankful for my health, I am the healthiest person alive, and I am thankful for my farm girl background that has, I believe, given me my fortitude.
16. I am thankful for freedom of speech.
17. I am thankful for all of the recent opportunities I have had to walk out of my comfort zone and do something differently.
18. I am thankful for boots, seriously, what would my life be without my kickin’ boots? Dull, so very dull.
19. I am thankful for freedom of speech.
20. I am thankful for books, that all of our technology has not wiped out ink to paper. There is nothing more relaxing for me than to hold a book and read it. I love the feel of the book, the weight, the smell, everything about books.
21. I am thankful the Irishman is getting healthier. It has been a long, hard road to health for him and I am thankful he is in a good stretch right now.
22. I am thankful for angieworld, it gives me a platform to spout whatever I want, no one has to read it, however, it is incredibly cathartic for me.
23. I am thankful for Dean Cain. That’s all.
Ok, I can’t do 30, 23 is my limit, I hope everyone has a great day, it’s my Friday and tomorrow I am in studio with Shanon J recording our show which airs Saturday evenings.

Stop the Fighting!

Well, I have been gathering my thoughts, I have something to say and I wanted to be clear and concise regarding this issue. The election is over, it is now time to stop the fighting, fighting I felt was unnecessary to begin with. I have stopped following people on both sides of the fence on twitter.
I am going to tell you why. When I see things from the winning side saying “suck it Republicans” and from the losing side “the country is doomed” I am cleaning the language up by the way. I am appalled, is everyone forgetting that we are all Americans? We are all, really, on the same side; we all want a great country to live in. A safe place to raise our children, enough food to eat, a warm place to sleep and neighbors we can count on. We have that, let’s focus on that, and let’s focus on making this country great. Forget the political differences, forget the fighting, remember who we are, we are Americans, first and foremost.
Let’s get back to the business of being a country, don’t tell me I suck due to who I voted for, and I won’t tell you that I think you’re stupid. For the record I don’t, I know whoever voted differently than I did their research and decided that was their candidate.
We all have different points of view, we all look at the world from a different angle, let’s respect that

I have a raging headache, I hit my head on my desk yesterday, I was getting something I dropped and hit my head. I don’t even know if I am coherent at this point.
I would like to say thank you to the men and women who work the polling places, they deal with a lot of people all day long, some pleasant, some not so much. By the time I arrived they had been there since 7:00 am, they were all pleasant and helpful and had smiles on their faces. I appreciate their willingness to be there all day and in some instances learn a new skill. They now use laptops, scanners and card readers, it is a whole new skill set since the majority of these workers are elderly. They were wonderful, pleasant and kind, I love you all.
I spent my evening watching old episodes of Lois and Clark; The New Adventures of Superman, the episodes: ones where Dean Cain is in that black spandex outfit. I thought I had just about died and gone to heaven. My favorite episodes, he looks so awesome in that thing, I wonder if he got to keep it. Food for thought my friends, I bet he would still look good in that thing.
I am really wanting Cheetos right now, yes for breakfast, I want some, I need some, I am so happy I don’t have change so I can’t go to the vending machine. I have fruit and yogurt and I shall stick with that, never fear, I am determined to be 98 pounds. Maybe if I locked myself up for a year and just lived on cardboard I could achieve that goal. But I don’t think that is gonna happen, especially with our November Ladies that Lunch being this Saturday. We are trying a new place and I cannot wait, it looks amazing.
I shall sign off for now, I have a headache and I have to make it go away, coffee wont help this one as it is a bump on the head causing it. So no self medicating with caffeine.

Election Day is Here

Today is Election Day here in the United States of America, it is one of my favorite days, no matter who wins, I love Election Day. The history of the vote in America is a controversial one, the founding fathers never meant for all the people to have the right to vote. They wanted only educated, land owners to have the right to decide the fate of the country.
In 1868 the 14th amendment states that all persons born or naturalized are citizens of the U.S. and the U.S. State where they reside. In 1870 the 15th amendment says you can vote no matter race, color, or previous condition of servitude. Finally all men could vote. Men. In 1920 the 19th amendment says on account of sex, finally women could vote.
I urge you all to go out and exercise your hard earned right to vote, our forbearers fought hard for us to have this right. We owe it to them to make an educated decision, to really learn about the issues, decide which course of action is best for our country and vote the way we feel is best. I am appalled at all of the uneducated voters, ones who don’t bother to read anything, to learn the issues. Won’t listen to a debate, nothing, seriously, why would you waste your vote? I was taught to research the issues, educate myself, to make an informed decision. My parents never tried to sway my vote one way or another, to this day; I don’t even know who they ever voted for. Except for my mom, in one election, her first in 1932, she only told me that in 1987.
All of my children are of voting age, two have taken advantage of early voting, Elizabeth and Alex, very proud of them. Jeffrey is like me, he votes on the day of, a traditionalist. I don’t tell them how to vote, I encourage them, like my parents encouraged me to educate themselves on the issues. I am proud to say they do, they are well educated humans, I am proud of the adults they are becoming.
So today, if you have not read anything, listened to anything, please take a moment, read an article, educate yourself before stepping into that booth. You owe it to the ones who fought for your right to be there.

This past weekend was one of the most memorable ones I have had in a while, thank you so much Shanon J for this amazing opportunity. Our first show aired Saturday night and it was a hit! I am beyond thrilled at the positive feedback we have both received. I wish I could tell you more, but it will have to wait a while.
I have to stop watching the Walking Dead before I go to bed on Sunday nights, I had dreams about being one of the characters off and on all night. It was crazy nuts. It was a shocking episode; I won’t talk about it because I don’t want to spoil anything for those who have not watched the episode yet. It was a great episode and gave me nightmares, so you know it was awesome!
On my twitter feed I am following two of the housewives from the RHNJ franchise, one has been very good about updating her twitter feed regarding the situation in Jersey these days. She and her family have been very fortunate, they have two generators, using them sparingly, certain rooms in the home, not all. But the thing that impresses me the most is she is using her twitter to gather items to hand out to the less fortunate, the whole family has gotten into the spirit helping. I cannot tell you how many truck loads they have delivered to effected people in their area. They set up a central location, the business of one of the family members, Cafface is the drop off point, and even before they can make it to the building people are dropping off items. This is incredibly amazing to see, the human spirit is resilient, unstoppable and if you are an American, it is unbeatable.
The major telecommunications company I work for has 10,000 employees that have been impacted by Hurricane Sandy; the company has set up a fund that will go directly to these families. I am so proud to be associated with such a company, which is where I chose to direct my funds, to help a fellow employee. It is simply wonderful they have chosen to help the employees, I hope the employees feel that we, here in other areas care about them and are praying for them and want to help any way we can.
Being in Texas it feels as if we are far removed from the people up there, and yes, we say up there, but seeing the footage, reading the tweets, I pray for these people, my fellow Americans. I know without a doubt New York, New Jersey and all of the other areas up North will not only recover, but come back stronger.

Recording, Sons and Sarah Palin

So many things to write about, my head is full, I’ll start with yesterday, at the beginning so to speak. It started with me going into the studio to record with Shanon. Our first show, it airs today, 7pm on Heaven 97, a Dallas, TX based radio station, if you download the Tunein Radio app on your smart phone then search for Heaven 97 you will be able to listen to us.
I hope everyone enjoys the show as much as we enjoyed doing it, while I was in studio, the DJ who was on air at the time asked us to come in and do a live promo for the show. It was so exciting! I felt like Kelly Raspberry! I think it went well, it was my first time on the radio, and it was fun!
Afterward I went to Target, I came out and my car would not turn all the way over, well it would turn over, but would not catch. Alex was in the area and came and got me and helped me get the car into a parking space. Well, I helped him, ok, I was more of a hinderance, but he got the job done. Then today he and Jeffrey came and of course the car started right up. Jeffrey will be bringing something home to test it next week. I feel very blessed to have two sons that will drop everything and come to the rescue of their mother. I don’t have enough superlatives in my vocabulary to properly express how I feel about them. Just know I will be grateful for the rest of my days for my sons.
I watched Game Change today, mostly because I love Danny Strong, he was Jonathan on Buffy, he wrote Game Change and actually won an Emmy for it. Everyone knows I am not a big fan of Sarah Palin, I do believe she was a liability to John McCain in the ’08 election, I believe if he had convinced Kay Bailey Hutchison to run as his VP it would have been a much tougher race. I do not believe they vetted Palin properly, or at all. She was uneducated, a wild card and personifies everything that I am appalled by.
However, there are things I do admire about Sarah Palin, her strong moral character, her unwillingness to bend in what she believes to be the right way of doing things, her loyalty to her family, the way she loves her children. If she had been educated, she would have been a force to be reckoned with, if she can get herself up to speed, learn about foreign policy, world events and the economy, lose the accent, I really hate the accent, I believe she would be unstoppable.
Please remember to listen to our new show today, I hope everyone enjoys it!
